‘Farmer Wants a Wife’: Will Leish and Farmer Ben Form a Love Connection?

Farmer Wants a Wife is in full swing, and sparks are flying all over the place as we get settled in for a season of (hopefully) long-lasting love connections.

This season, we’re following Farmer Ben, 27, from Wingham, NSW, Farmer Harry, 24, from Kyabram, VIC, Farmer Will, 26, from Berriwillock, VIC, Farmer Benjamin, 33, from Guyra, NSW, and Farmer Paige — the show’s first female farmer — who’s 28 and from Cassilis, NSW.

One of the women hoping to win Farmer Ben’s heart this season is Leish, a 31-year-old hospital administrator from Queensland.

Although applying for a reality television series in order to find love was not in Leish’s plans, she “felt compelled to put [her] hat in the ring” after a friend sent her the link to Farmer Ben’s video.

“City dating hasn’t worked out for me so far in finding someone genuine, who is looking for something long-term,” Leish said in a press statement.

As for how she’d fare on the farm, Leish said that she’s “always had a strong pull to the country” and has “a number of family and friends living in country towns”, so she’d probably do alright.

“I’ve always felt at home when visiting them,” she said.

After watching his video, Leish was attracted to Farmer Ben because she felt that they “have a lot of common values” in what they’re searching for in a partner, and she thinks they could “complement each other”.

“I really valued Farmer Ben’s reflection on his grandparents’ and parents’ love in what he was looking for,” she explained.

Of course, the fact that he’s cute didn’t hurt, either.

“It definitely helps that he’s pleasant on the eye and genuinely seems like an easy-going, fun-loving bloke that I’d love to get to know,” she added.

For Leish, “finding love… means finding your best friend, someone to laugh with, someone who notices when something is off, who will put in the effort and go the long haul”.

Having been burned by modern dating, Leish fancies herself a more old-school kind of romance, and she’s willing to put in the work to get what she wants.

“I value the traditional love you don’t seem to find in this modern world of dating,” she said. “I may look girly, but I will give anything an absolute crack, even if that results in getting my whites dirty.”

As for what Farmer Ben could do to win her over?

“The way to my heart is a good margarita or wine complemented with a nice, rare steak,” she said.

Will Leish and Farmer Ben be a match made in heaven? Or will it be back to the apps for Leish? Only time will tell. Until then…

Farmer Wants a Wife airs at 7.00pm on Sundays, and 7.30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, only on 7 and 7 Plus.
