READ MORE: ‘The Bachelors Australia’: Here’s What Went Down at the Finale
Well, folks, The Bachelors‘ summer of love is finally here and this season things are going to be different.
Past seasons of The Bachelor Australia have featured helicopter dates over Sydney’s picturesque harbours, where our Bachelor would woo his date for the day. Then, they’d head back to the candle-lit mansion dripping in fairy lights for an elaborate Rose Ceremony, where each week, he’d whittle down the women vying for his affection one by one.
This season, all of that is changing.
First, and perhaps most importantly, there are three Bachelors — Jed McIntosh, Felix Von Hofe, and Thomas Malucelli — looking for love this year, and if the promos are anything to go by, at least one of them will pop the question by the end of the series.
Secondly, the show has relocated to Queensland’s sunny Gold Coast. The girls are residing in a waterfront mansion, but there’s not a twinkle light or candle in sight, promising a sleeker, more modern version of The Bachelors than we’ve seen in past seasons.
Finally, the promos show a more dynamic, less linear path to love, for both our Bachelors and the girls in the mansion. As we’ve seen, there are girls who reject our Bachies, and some who may be keen to switch Bachelors along the way.
All in all, it’s set to be an exciting season, and with the first promos introducing the women vying for our Bachelors’ hearts dropping, it’s time to get to know them.
One of the women hoping to win restaurant manager Thomas’ heart is self-confessed old-school romantic, 32-year-old Leah, from South Australia.

In a promo released by Network 10, we learn that Leah is a self-described “old-school romantic in a hook-up culture” who’s just looking for her happily ever after.
“Finding love is the missing piece to my puzzle,” Leah explains.
The pair take a romantic boat ride together, and from the looks of the promo, it seems that she may have struck gold with fellow hopeless romantic Thomas.
“I’ve always been very romantic,” Thomas says in the clip. “I’m here to find real love; it’s just really important to me.”
“He’s everything I’m looking for,” Leah gushes after their date. “He’s such a gentleman.”
Meanwhile, Thomas is visibly emotional and even tears up.
“I can’t believe I’m crying,” he says. “What the f**k!”
Up until now, Leah hasn’t had a lot of luck in the love department.
When asked if she’s been in love before, Leah said in a press statement: “I really don’t think I have. My sister says if I need to Google ‘have I been in love?’, I most likely haven’t!”
Now, she’s ready for a change in luck, and to find love the old fashioned way, lest she become her worst nightmare: a cat lady.
“It’s been said that love finds you when you are ready, I know I am ready,” Leah said. “I’m ready for someone to have a place in my heart, that no one else has ever had before.”
Leah has a history of dating the wrong guys, but as she embarks on her Bachelors Australia journey, she’s ready to put all of that behind her and open herself up to a new kind of love.
“It’s time for me to take a risk in finding love and to stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start getting excited about what is going to go right,” she said. “It’s time to take my chance, be honest, jump, go for it, be all in, and why the hell not? I truly believe this small step in the Bachelor’s direction is going to be the biggest step of my life.”
Will it be everlasting love at first sight for these two romantics, or will Leah be forced to kiss a few more toads? Only time will tell. Until then…
The Bachelors Australia premieres on January 9, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
