‘The Bachelors Australia’: Will Krystal and Felix’s Love Be a Masterpiece?

Well, folks, The Bachelors‘ summer of love is finally here and this season things are going to be different.

Past seasons of The Bachelor Australia have featured helicopter dates over Sydney’s picturesque harbours, where our Bachelor would woo his date for the day. Then, they’d head back to the candle-lit mansion dripping in fairy lights for an elaborate Rose Ceremony, where each week, he’d whittle down the women vying for his affection one by one.

This season, all of that is changing.

First, and perhaps most importantly, there are three Bachelors — Jed McIntosh, Felix Von Hofe, and Thomas Malucelli — looking for love this year, and if the promos are anything to go by, at least one of them will pop the question by the end of the series.

Secondly, the show has relocated to Queensland’s sunny Gold Coast. The girls are residing in a waterfront mansion, but there’s not a twinkle light or candle in sight, promising a sleeker, more modern version of The Bachelors than we’ve seen in past seasons.

Finally, the promos show a more dynamic, less linear path to love, for both our Bachelors and the girls in the mansion. As we’ve seen, there are girls who reject our Bachies, and some who may be keen to switch Bachelors along the way.

All in all, it’s set to be an exciting season and, with the first promos introducing the women vying for our Bachelors’ hearts dropping, it’s time to get to know them.

One of the women hoping to win over basketball player Felix Von Hofe is 26-year-old Krystal, from Queensland.

In a promo released by Network 10, Krystal says, “Felix is hot! Like he walks in and he’s just big and tall”, before we see the potential couple strip down for a body painting session.

If the teaser is anything to go by, it seems the sparks are flying between the couple.

“I fancy him! I fancy him,” we hear Krystal say in a voice-over.

Covered in paint, she then tells him directly, “you’re hot!”, to which Felix replies, “Am I?! So are you!”

“Some girls just have it, and she’s got it,” a paint-splattered Felix declares to the camera.

“He’s already my husband,” Krystal declares in a confessional. “Mrs Felix!”

In a press statement, Krystal said that when she fancies someone, she’s like “a lion with prey”.

“I see it, I want it, I get it,” she added.

If the promo didn’t tip you off, Krystal is confident, cheeky, a little bit chaotic, and all about living her best life, 24/7.

An avid traveller and foodie, you can be sure that time spent with Krystal will never be dull — she’s all about fine dining, festivals, and fun. If she causes a little mischief along the way, so be it!

Fiercely independent, Krystal said that she suspects one of the main reasons she’s still single is that “most guys are intimidated” by her confidence.

“I also think it’s because I refuse to settle for anything less than I deserve,” she added. “I just think I’ve enjoyed single life so much that I’m used to the lifestyle and almost fear what it’s like to be vulnerable.”

Krystal went on to say that in the past, she’s been “a ‘no feelings’ kinda gal”, but now, she’s ready to open herself up to the possibility of love.

“I’m scared of getting hurt, but I have to try at some point, right?” she said.

Up until now, Krystal said that she’s been on her Eat, Pray, Love journey, full of “colourful chaos”.

“[It’s been] full of travel and wild experiences whilst trying to figure out what on earth I’m actually doing,” she said.

Will Krystal and Felix be a love match, or will their spark fizzle out as the summer of love begins to heat up? Only time will tell. Until then…

The Bachelors Australia premieres on January 9, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
