‘The Bachelors Australia’: Felix Von Hofe Is Ready For Real Romance

Well, folks, The Bachelors‘ summer of love is finally here, and this season, things are going to be different.

Past seasons of The Bachelor Australia have featured helicopter dates over Sydney’s picturesque harbours, where our Bachelor would woo his date for the day. Then, they’d head back to the candle-lit mansion dripping in fairy lights for an elaborate Rose Ceremony, where each week, he’d whittle down the women vying for his affection one by one.

This season, all of that is changing.

First, and perhaps most importantly, there are three Bachelors — Jed McIntoshFelix Von Hofe, and Thomas Malucelli — looking for love this year, and if the promos are anything to go by, at least one of them will pop the question by the end of the series.

Secondly, the show has relocated to Queensland’s sunny Gold Coast. The girls are residing in a waterfront mansion, but there’s not a twinkle light or candle in sight, promising a sleeker, more modern version of The Bachelors than we’ve seen in past seasons.

Finally, the promos show a more dynamic, less linear path to love, for both our Bachelors and the girls in the mansion. As we’ve seen, there are girls who reject our Bachies, and some who may be keen to switch Bachelors along the way.

All in all, it’s set to be an exciting season, and with the season premiere just around the corner, it’s time to get to know our Bachelors.

Felix Von Hofe is a 27-year-old former pro basketballer turned sports commentator and marketing manager from Victoria who stands at 6 feet, 4 inches.

During his basketball career, Felix travelled the world and played for Australia, playing games in Spain, Africa, China, Germany, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates and the USA. He was reaching all his career goals, but soon realised that it wasn’t what he really wanted. So, he turned in his jersey and pivoted to a new passion: talking about sports as a professional commentator, and becoming a marketing manager along the way.

Prior to becoming one of the Bachelors, Felix was living in the USA, but now that he’s back on Australian shores, he said in a press statement that he feels ready to “get into a proper relationship”.

When it comes to love, though, Felix is an old school romantic who’s craving personal connection.

Speaking to Peter Helliar on The Project last year, Felix mused that he “might’ve been born just 10 years too late”, because he doesn’t like dating apps, and is “not big on social media” in general.

“I like talking to people face-to-face and we have no shortage of that out here,” Felix explained of the unusual Bachelors environment. “So I’m really enjoying having proper, one-on-one dates and getting to know people, rather than just the Instagram DMs and all of that sort of stuff.”

Competitive by nature, Felix said in a statement that while he wouldn’t ever fight for someone’s attention, if a woman wasn’t interested in him, he would take the time to consider why that may be.

As for what he’s looking for, he’s all about a girl who can make him laugh, and if he’s feeling the spark, he’s not afraid to make the first move.

“For me, the most attractive quality a girl can have is a good sense of humour,” he said. “My dream date would be anything where it ends up hurting to laugh, because if we’re both laughing the whole time then it can’t get much better.”

Aside from the laughs, Felix is also attracted to a woman with ambition, who has an affectionate nature, loves kids and, no shock here, is into sports and keeping fit.

Will Felix find “The One”? Only time will tell. Until then…
