Lucinda Price, best known as ‘Froomes’, is a comedian and best-selling author (her book ‘All I Ever Wanted Was to Be Hot’ is an interrogation of Australia’s body image problem and is on my summer break reading list). What you probably don’t know her for is cooking or — as she puts it — being a “cooker”.
Which is what makes this episode of Tasty’s Pantry Panic such a must-watch. Pantry Panic sees host Tanika Douglas and a guest make a dish from the leftovers in the guest’s kitchen (with some added seasoning) in under 30 minutes. It’s as chaotic as it sounds.
So what leftover ingredients did Froomes bring in for Douglas to cook with? “I think you’re going to like them,” she told Douglas. “There’s a little bit of a fusion occurring.”
Froomes then proceeded to pull out of a mesh bag the leftovers: some shallots, rocket (which Douglas described as looking “slimy”), the “bottom” ends of a loaf of bread, some chunks of cheese in a plastic baggie and three-day-old Bolognese sauce.
Can Douglas with her “cooker” help in the form of Froomes make a passable meal with this “fusion” of ingredients (plus the seasoning)?
To find out if anything remotely edible could be made (and what that meal was), watch the first episode of Pantry Panic on 10 Play. Pantry Panic airs weeknights at 7pm and 9pm and weekends at 2pm and 4pm in December.
