‘The Bachelors Australia’: Are Felix and Jessica Destined to Be?

Well, folks, The Bachelors‘ summer of love is finally here, and this season, things are going to be different.

Past seasons of The Bachelor Australia have featured helicopter dates over Sydney’s picturesque harbours, where our Bachelor would woo his date for the day. Then, they’d head back to the candle-lit mansion dripping in fairy lights for an elaborate Rose Ceremony, where each week, he’d whittle down the women vying for his affection one by one.

This season, all of that is changing.

First, and perhaps most importantly, there are three Bachelors — Jed McIntosh, Felix Von Hofe, and Thomas Malucelli — looking for love this year, and if the promos are anything to go by, at least one of them will pop the question by the end of the series.

Secondly, the show has relocated to Queensland’s sunny Gold Coast. The girls are residing in a waterfront mansion, but there’s not a twinkle light or candle in sight, promising a sleeker, more modern version of The Bachelors than we’ve seen in past seasons.

Finally, the promos show a more dynamic, less linear path to love, for both our Bachelors and the girls in the mansion. As we’ve seen, there are girls who reject our Bachies, and some who may be keen to switch Bachelors along the way.

All in all, it’s set to be an exciting season, and with the first promos introducing the women vying for our Bachelors’ hearts dropping, it’s time to get to know them.

One of the women vying for basketballer Felix’s affections is 25-year-old Jessica from Queensland.

“This was the first date that I’d actually felt a little bit nervous,” Felix says in the trailer, adding that she gave him goosebumps. “It was just a really good feeling.”

“Felix is falling for Jessica,” declares the promo’s voiceover.

“I like this girl,” Felix confirms. “Jessica’s one of those girls I could see myself with.”

What Felix doesn’t know is that Jessica has a secret, and if the teaser is anything to go by, it’s one that could impact the potential romance between the lovebirds.

We hear Felix say that the revelation has thrown him before it cuts to a tearful Jessica, who says that she’s “just feeling a little bit unsure at this stage”.

Outside of The Bachelors Australia, Jessica is a dog-mum who prides herself on being open-minded, curious about life, and down-to-earth. She’s all about forming human connection and believes in the importance of personal development.

In fact, her proudest achievement to date was when she auditioned to be in the ensemble cast for a local production of Strictly Ballroom: The Musical, only to be “asked to play the lead character instead”.

“Getting out of my comfort zone was a massive growth opportunity and the experience was so much fun,” she added.

When it comes to relationships, Jessica said in a press statement that she wants a love that’s anything but “ordinary”. She wants her partner to challenge her and she wants to find meaning within her relationships.

Now, she’s hoping “to find someone who [she] can form a connection with and consider building a life with, both inside and outside of the show” during her time on The Bachelors Australia.

If Felix is going to continue winning Jessica over, a good place to start would be with her dream date which she said would be “coffee and walk by the beach, followed by a relaxing couples massage/day spa experience”.

Will love prevail for Jessica and Felix? Or will this obstacle be too big to overcome? Only time will tell. Until then…

The Bachelors Australia premieres on January 9, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
