‘The Traitors’: Will Criminal Lawyer MK Make It to the End?

2022 is the year of Network Ten premiering new shows and new formats, and so far, we’re loving it. We’ve roamed the streets of Victoria with Hunted Australia, cruised along the Mediterranean with The Real Love Boat, and now, we’re ready to play detective with The Traitors.

Hosted by Rodger Corser, The Traitors is a new competition reality series that takes place in an old hotel, where our Faithful contestants will compete in challenges to win bars of silver.

The twist, because there’s always a twist, is that there are Traitors masquerading as Faithfuls amongst them, trying to pick them off, one by one. If a Traitor makes it to the end, they’ll win the entire prize pool of silver — worth up to $250,000 — for themselves. If a Faithful makes it to the end, they’ll be presented with a choice: either split the prize with their other Faithful, or keep it all for themselves.

One of the contestants hoping to make it to the end this year is MK — aka “The Great MK” — a 59-year-old criminal lawyer from Victoria.

Before becoming a criminal lawyer, MK spent years working as a police officer, and claims to be able to tell whether someone is telling the truth of not within 30 seconds, a skill that’s sure to come in handy throughout The Traitors.

“I have been dealing with liars all my life,” he said in a press statement. “Criminal law can be a game of deception but you can’t be too soft. You need the heart of a lion, not the heart of a sheep. I’ve got the heart of a lion and in this game, I am there to find the sheep”.

Used to working alongside everyone from bikies to bankers, MK went on to say that he thinks he’ll be able to spot the Traitors coming from a mile away.

“I was a cop in some of the toughest districts in Australia for about 10 years, this is going to be chicken feed to some of the things I’ve seen,” he boasted.

Still, MK is all about fighting for the underdog, and he’s going into this prepared to fight for what’s right.

“I help people who break away from the crowds, I help people who make mistakes,” he said. “I came to Australia when I was 15 and couldn’t speak a word of English and people don’t like it when you’re a little bit different. I am a one-man show, I don’t need the opinion of other people”.

Will MK be able to put his money where his mouth is and find the Traitors before they get him? Only time will tell. Until then…

The Traitors airs at 7.30pm Sunday – Tuesdays, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
