‘The Traitors’: Traitor Angus Is Excited to Be the Villain

2022 is the year of Network Ten premiering new shows and new formats, and so far, we’re loving it. We’ve roamed the streets of Victoria with Hunted Australia, cruised along the Mediterranean with The Real Love Boat, and now, we’re ready to play detective with The Traitors.

Hosted by Rodger Corser, The Traitors is a new competition reality series that takes place in an old hotel, where our Faithful contestants will compete in challenges to win bars of silver.

The twist, because there’s always a twist, is that there are Traitors masquerading as Faithfuls amongst them, trying to pick them off, one by one. If a Traitor makes it to the end, they’ll win the entire prize pool of silver — worth up to $250,000 — for themselves. If a Faithful makes it to the end, they’ll be presented with a choice: either split the prize with their other Faithful, or keep it all for themselves.

One of the Traitors hoping to murder all the Faithfuls and find himself at the end is Angus, a 38-year-old sales manager from Queensland.

In the show’s premiere episode, we learned that Angus was set to be a Traitor this season, a twist that Angus is a-okay with. In fact, he thinks being a Traitor will be more fun than being a Faithful.

“I’m excited by an adventure and that’s what makes me a different competitor,” he said in a press statement. “I’m fascinated by people and want to know what makes you tick and if I have to play a little devious in this game to get what I need then all sweet.”

Angus is hoping that looks will be deceiving in The Traitors, and this his laid back, surfer vibes will help throw the Faithfuls off his trail as the game starts to heat up.

“I’m the perfect person to play The Traitors because not everything that you see is what you get,” he explained.

In fact, Angus said, there’s a lot more to him than meets the eye.

“There are two people,” he explained. “There’s Angus, the quiet, considered, well-read, analytical orientated guy and then there is my alter ego, Gucci man who is a lot different.

“He’s extroverted, loves a crowd, [is a] high-energy risk taker and both sides constantly jostle for my attention.”

When Angus isn’t playing for the win, he’s a family man who’s married with two kids, who mean everything to him. In the game, though? He’s happy to do whatever it takes to win the game.

“Loyalty means nothing to me in this game,” he said.

Will Angus be able to deceive and fool his way through the game? Only time will tell. Until then…

The Traitors airs at 7.30pm, Sunday — Tuesdays, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand. Miss an episode? Catch up on 10 Play.
