‘The Traitors’: Will Miss Universe Finalist Alex Charm Her Way to the End?

2022 is the year of Network Ten premiering new shows and new formats, and so far, we’re loving it. We’ve roamed the streets of Victoria with Hunted Australia, cruised along the Mediterranean with The Real Love Boat, and now, we’re ready to play detective with The Traitors.

Hosted by Rodger CorserThe Traitors is a new competition reality series that takes place in an old hotel, where our Faithful contestants will compete in challenges to win bars of silver.

The twist, because there’s always a twist, is that there are Traitors masquerading as Faithfuls amongst them, trying to pick them off, one by one. If a Traitor makes it to the end, they’ll win the entire prize pool of silver — worth up to $250,000 — for themselves. If a Faithful makes it to the end, they’ll be presented with a choice: either split the prize with their other Faithful, or keep it all for themselves.

One of the Faithfuls hoping to sniff out the Traitors and make it to the end of the game this season is Alex, a 25-year-old model and social media co-ordinator from SA.

In a press statement, Alex explained that modelling was “not something [she] planned to get into”, but soon enough, she found herself a national finalist in the 2019 Miss Universe competition.

“I definitely stumbled upon the opportunity and thought I had nothing to lose but time,” she said, “and it opened up a lot of doors in terms of the fact, it gave me friends across the world and gave me opportunities to explore the more glamorous side of modelling”.

Now, Alex is hoping that her looks will mean that she’s underestimated in the game of The Traitors, written off as just a pretty face.

“I want people to believe I’m a gentle, sweet and bubbly soul, and I don’t want them to know that underneath my sweetness, I’m actually cutthroat,” she said.

Of course, anyone who’s familiar with the pageant world knows that it takes a lot of social prowess to make it far, and Alex is hoping those social skills translate to The Traitors.

“I think I’ll be good at this because I’m very good at reading people,” she said. “I feel it’ll be a lot about relationships and connections which I’m good at. I’m also quite good at detecting liars so hopefully I can tell who is not being themselves”.

Will Alex be able to charm her way to the top? Only time will tell. Until then…

The Traitors airs at 7.30pm, Sunday — Tuesdays, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand. Miss an episode? Catch up on 10 Play.
