‘The Traitors’: Hotel Concierge Dirk Is Ready to Lie for the Win

2022 is the year of Network Ten premiering new shows and new formats, and so far, we’re loving it. We’ve roamed the streets of Victoria with Hunted Australia, cruised along the Mediterranean with The Real Love Boat, and now, we’re ready to play detective with The Traitors.

Hosted by Rodger CorserThe Traitors is a new competition reality series that takes place in an old hotel, where our Faithful contestants will compete in challenges to win bars of silver.

The twist, because there’s always a twist, is that there are Traitors masquerading as Faithfuls amongst them, trying to pick them off, one by one. If a Traitor makes it to the end, they’ll win the entire prize pool of silver — worth up to $250,000 — for themselves. If a Faithful makes it to the end, they’ll be presented with a choice: either split the prize with their other Faithful, or keep it all for themselves.

One of the Faithfuls who’s ready to banish the Traitors and make it to the end is Dirk, a 34-year-old hotel concierge from Victoria.

With a long history in customer service and hospitality, Dirk is very adept at reading people, assessing their needs, and giving people what they want. Over the course of his career, he’s worked with a string of high-profile clients, from celebrities to royals, and knows that a well-placed white lie or two is worth it, as long as it keeps the customer happy.

Not only is he good at reading people, Dirk also said that he’s good at being able to tell when someone is lying to him and, furthermore, he’s excited to lie right back to them.

“It’s not an everyday situation and while I’m probably going to get lied to and they put their lie level to a three, I’ll raise mine to a five,” Dirk said.

On top of his experience in customer service, Dirk also acts and performs cabaret on the side, which means he’ll also have his acting skills to help him out in the game of The Traitors. Of course, he’s not planning on telling any of his fellow competitors that he’s an actor.

“You have to hide your emotions and feelings and portray something that is not really happening so if I set something up that causes some drama, I can react to it accordingly,” he said.

Will Dirk’s experience help him sniff out the Traitors? Or will the Traitors snuff him out before he picks up on their scent? Only time will tell. Until then…

The Traitors airs at 7.30pm, Sunday — Tuesdays, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand. Miss an episode? Catch up on 10 Play.
