‘The Traitors’: Will Midy Have to Compromise His Values for the Win?

2022 is the year of Network Ten premiering new shows and new formats, and so far, we’re loving it. We’ve roamed the streets of Victoria with Hunted Australia, cruised along the Mediterranean with The Real Love Boat, and now, we’re ready to play detective with The Traitors.

Hosted by Rodger Corser, The Traitors is a new competition reality series that takes place in an old hotel, where our Faithful contestants will compete in challenges to win bars of silver.

The twist, because there’s always a twist, is that there are Traitors masquerading as Faithfuls amongst them, trying to pick them off, one by one. If a Traitor makes it to the end, they’ll win the entire prize pool of silver — worth up to $250,000 — for themselves. If a Faithful makes it to the end, they’ll be presented with a choice: either split the prize with their other Faithful, or keep it all for themselves.

One of the competitors hoping to win the prize at the end is Midy, a 29-year-old strategy consultant from NSW.

Whether it’s online or IRL escape rooms, Midy loves games, and he’s hoping that his strategic mind comes in handy as he ventures into his next endeavour: The Traitors.

At a strategy consultant and operations manager for a tech company, Midy frequently finds himself presenting to hundreds of people at once, so he’s become quite accustomed to commanding the room with a good joke or anecdote. He’s also used to turning on the charm — he works part-time as a model, a job he stumbled across when he tagged along to one of his model girlfriend’s photoshoots.

As for whether he’ll fare better as a Faithful or a Traitor, Midy thinks the life of a Traitor may not be for him.

“If I was chosen as a Faithful then I would feel at home because I’m authentic and want to be the one who uncovers the wolves hiding amongst us and lead us to victory,” he mused.

“I’m someone who is going to bring my values from real life into the game and that’s integrity, leading with authenticity and maximising happiness,” Midy added. “I’m also a competitor but I don’t want to compromise on my values”.

Will Midy be forced to compromise his values and deceive them all for the win? Only time will tell. Until then…

The Traitors airs at 7.30pm, Sunday — Tuesdays, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
