2022 is the year of Network Ten premiering new shows and new formats, and so far, we’re loving it. We’ve roamed the streets of Victoria with Hunted Australia, cruised along the Mediterranean with The Real Love Boat, and now, we’re ready to play detective with The Traitors.
Hosted by Rodger Corser, The Traitors is a new competition reality series that takes place in an old hotel, where our Faithful contestants will compete in challenges to win bars of silver.
The twist, because there’s always a twist, is that there are Traitors masquerading as Faithfuls amongst them, trying to pick them off, one by one. If a Traitor makes it to the end, they’ll win the entire prize pool of silver — worth up to $250,000 — for themselves. If a Faithful makes it to the end, they’ll be presented with a choice: either split the prize with their other Faithful, or keep it all for themselves.
One of the competitors hoping to make it to the end is Claire, a 52-year-old supermarket checkout operator from NSW.

A mum of two who’s worked in retail for years, it’s safe to say that Claire isn’t afraid of a challenge. She’s all about laughing in the face of a challenge, and is also studying to finish her Certificate 4 in Community Services.
Claire said that she’s also determined to help break down the stereotypical perception that people who work in supermarkets aren’t able to get other work.
“I’ve got qualifications up my sleeve and I work in a supermarket because I choose to and it suits me and my family and I love it,” she said in a press statement.
While Claire prides herself on living with honesty and integrity, she did admit that the prospect of joining the dark side — aka the Traitors — sounded pretty enticing.
“I think being a Traitor would be fun because you can manipulate and get the Faithfuls to turn on each other,” she mused. “It sounds horrible but it’s pretty cool. I am not normally able to do this and nobody gets a chance to be like this. In real life, it would be horrendous but it’s exciting in this game.”
Claire is playing the game hoping to take home the pool of silver for her two daughters, but she also wants them to see that no matter your age, you can shoot for the stars and accomplish your goals.
“You have to put it into your heart that you can do it, so that’s what I’m going to do,” she said. “We can all do it once you set yourself a goal.”
Will Claire be the Traitor she wants to see in the world, and con her way to the end? Only time will tell. Until then…
