The Summit Australia is Channel 9’s latest reality competition series. The show challenges its contestants to hike to the top of one of New Zealand’s highest peaks. The prize is a share in a one million dollar cash prize, but not everyone will make it to the end. It’s a brand new show, which means it’s time to put faces to the names of the 14 trekkers who make up The Summit 2023 cast.
The Summit Australia 2023 Cast: Meet Phillip
Phillip is a donut bakery owner who’s now set to tackle the mountains of New Zealand. With hard work and risk-taking in his blood, Phillip hopes to draw on his strengths to overcome the challenge.
“People might get the wrong impression of me at first,” Phillip said in a press statement. “But after working in retail since I was 15, I know how to win people over and gain their trust easily.”
Phillip’s success in the bakery industry throughout COVID is a testament to his willingness to take risks.
Phillip encouraged his parents to experiment with some risqué donut recipes, and the gamble paid off overnight. The business boomed, but Phillip doesn’t take anything for granted.
“My greatest fear is losing everything,” Phillip said. “But growing up poor and watching my parents work so hard to get to where they are now has taught me to keep working and pushing through.”

Phillip’s Journey on The Summit
Despite a fear of heights, Phillip is determined to overcome any obstacles that come his way.
“I didn’t know how to bake bread, but I started a bakery,” he said. “I know how to adapt and expect the unexpected.”
Mostly, Phillip believes that his mental strength will help him through the tough times as he navigates the conditions of The Summit.
“I am so determined,” he said. “I am willing to put in the work to get to where I need to be.”
Phillip’s story is a reminder that hard work and taking risks can lead to great success, even in the face of daunting challenges. But will he make it to the peak? Only time will tell.
The Summit Australia airs at 7pm on Sunday, and at 7.30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, only on 9 and 9Now. Miss an episode? Catch up on 9Now.
