The Summit Australia is Channel 9’s latest reality competition series. It’s 14 contestants, 14 days, and a million dollars in cash. All they have to do is hike to the top of one of New Zealand’s highest peaks. No biggie, right? It’s a brand new show, and that means it’s time to meet the 14 trekkers who make up The Summit 2023 cast.
The Summit 2023 Cast: Meet Jans
Jans is an entrepreneur and personal chef who creates recipes for fitness apps and brands on social media. After years of working for various restaurants, cafés, and food trucks, he’s has set his sights on a new adventure — The Summit Australia.
Jans is excited about the opportunity to challenge himself mentally and physically, and he’s ready to commit to the journey. His biggest inspiration? His mum, who has always inspired Jans to be ambitious and goal-oriented.
“Once I set my mind on something, that’s it,” Jans said in a press statement. “My mum always taught me that once you have a goal, you work out the steps to get to the end. If you make a mistake, you’ll learn, so just get back up and keep moving.”

Jans’ Journey on The Summit
Jans has a palpable enthusiasm for this new adventure, and he’s determined to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
“I’m looking forward to testing my mental and physical limits,” he said. “It’s going to be a challenge, but I’m ready for it.”
When it comes to his strategy, Jans is expecting his sense of humour and culinary skills to come in handy as the trekkers make their way up the mountain.
Of course, this is reality TV, so he’s not planning to reveal all his tactics to his fellow trekkers immediately. Rather, he’s planning to play it cool and fly under the radar.
Jans joked that his cooking will be the key to his success. If he and his fellow trekkers have a falling out along the way, for example, he’ll know exactly how to win them back.
“Cooking is always the key to someone’s heart. I can get them back onside with a mouthful of cookie,” he said.
The Summit Australia airs at 7pm on Sunday, and at 7.30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, only on 9 and 9Now. Miss an episode? Catch up on 9Now.
