Dave Hughes — better known as Hughesy — is gracing Australia’s screens for another season of The Masked Singer 2023.

He’s most definitely the show’s resident funnyman and always has the most outrageous guesses for which Australian personality is behind the eccentric costumes.

But he’s not just an Aussie comedy icon, Hughesy’s career goes beyond the skits and bits. Here’s his story.

Over the course of his career, Dave Hughes has taken his comedy career from clubs to sold out stages across the nation. His signature quick quips and everyday-anecdotes-turned-punchline routines are loved by Aussies everywhere.

In 2022, Hughesy treated us to an all-new live show titled Trending, which he performed at both The Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Dave’s dedication to his craft remains unwavering, which is why you can still find him taking the stage at comedy clubs nationwide on any night of the week.

Aside from returning to The Masked Singer 2023 guessing panel, he’s also made regular appearances on some of Australia’s favourite TV shows. You might have seen him on The Hundred, Celebrity GoggleBox or Would I Lie To You? Australia.

Beyond the glamour and applause of live comedy and television, Hughesy continues to co-host popular radio show, The Morning Crew. Alongside Ed Kavalee and Erin Molan, he brings the larrikinism and tongue-in-cheek humour that listeners love.

Will Dave Hughes’ antics get the costumed celebs to reveal themselves? Tune into The Masked Singer, Mondays at 7:30pm to find out — only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand. Miss an episode? Catch up on 10 Play.
