The Summit Australia is Channel 9’s latest reality competition series. The show challenges its contestants to hike to the top of one of New Zealand‘s highest peaks. The prize? A share in a one million dollar cash prize. It’s a brand new show, which means it’s time to put faces to the names of the 14 trekkers who make up The Summit 2023 cast.
The Summit 2023 Cast: Meet Alex
Alex is a former AFL player who is now set to take on a new challenge on Channel 9’s The Summit Australia 2023.
Alex’s competitive drive and determination to push himself are what sets him apart, as he admits he had to work twice as hard as everyone else to get to the levels he played at.
“I’ve got an itch to scratch, which is the competitive side, and I like to push myself,” Alex said in a press statement.
Alex is a father of two daughters, and he’s motivated by his family to take on this adventure.
“I really want to challenge myself, but also set an example for my kids,” he said. “It’s something they are going to see and I want to do it for them. I don’t want to be 70 and think I should’ve just done it.”

How Alex’s AFL Background Will Help Him Conquer The Summit
Alex’s time playing AFL for the Fremantle Dockers and Carlton Football Club taught him a thing or two about having to work hard to achieve success.
“I never saw myself as a natural footballer, I had to work hard to get to the levels I played at,” he said.
It also taught him everything he knows about working as part of a team. One of those lessons? Sometimes, team work means making tough decisions. It’s this mentality that he’s now bringing into The Summit Australia.
“I like to help people, but as brutal as it sounds it’s a game, and if it comes to the crunch, then for the greater good I’ll have to leave people behind,” he explained.
Alex’s drive and determination will undoubtedly make him a force to be reckoned with at The Summit Australia 2023, and we can’t wait to see him in action.
The Summit Australia airs at 7pm on Sunday, and at 7.30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, only on 9 and 9Now. Miss an episode? Catch up on 9Now.
