The wait is finally over! The Amazing Race Australia is set to return for 2023, and this time, there are plenty of familiar faces in the mix. The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition takes 11 Aussie celebs and their loved ones, and puts them to the test like never before. There are sports stars like Jana Pittman, former Silverchair drummer Ben Gillies, former Wiggle Emma Watkins, and Australian Survivor star ‘King’ George Mladenov, to name a few, and they’re all ready to take on the race of a lifetime.
This year, the celebs will be competing alongside their loved ones for a chance to win $100,000 for the charity of their choice, and if the trailer is anything to go by, it’s bound to be a wild ride.
Of course, there’s another familiar face we haven’t mentioned yet, and that’s Beau Ryan, who’s back to host the show once again.
In an interview with The Latch, Beau says fans of the show are in for some drama, tantrums and a look into “the natural environment” of Australian celebrity relationships.
Beau Can’t Wait for People to See The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition
Over the phone, Beau says that fans of The Amazing Race Australia can look forward to seeing their favourite celebrities put to the test.
“We throw in 11 celebrity teams into some of the most hostile environments in the world,” he says. “People who are living the good life — entitled, living the fast life, having fun with all their luxuries — have just been stripped bare and had cameras in their faces for over a month and what you get is gold.”
The inclusion of celebrities, Beau says, is “something that really boosts the show”. Over the course of the series, viewers will get to see beyond the facade of their public personas and into the “everyday life” and “mindset” of couples like Grant and Chezzi Denyer. It’s something Beau believes every Australian will be excited to see, and something that will help take the show to the “next level”.
Now Is the Perfect Time for Celebrities to Join The Amazing Race Australia
The current iteration of The Amazing Race Australia premiered back in 2019, right before the COVID pandemic shut the world down. While the show was able to film a second season in 2020, it was filmed entirely within Queensland. The series went on hiatus in 2021, before returning in 2022 as international borders reopened.
While Beau is proud of the fact that they have been able to produce “so many successful seasons” over the last few years, he’s excited for people to see what they have in store for viewers this year.
“The timing is perfect,” he says.

Even better, the ex-NRL winger says that each celebrity gave the competition their all. In fact, their “win at all costs attitude” was an unexpected surprise.
“I didn’t realised they’d be that invested, but they are,” he says. “People just really find another level to try and win the show and raise money for charity.”
Who Beau Ryan Would Want to Compete With on The Amazing Race
As for who Beau would team up with if he ever wanted to swap his hosting hat for a competitor backpack, there’s only one option.
“I would compete with Angela Bishop,” he declares without hesitation.Â

“Because we’re a little bit opposite in our strengths,” he explains. “She’s super smart. She is very measured. She can drive a manual car. She’s tough and she’d be the boss.”Â
And of course, in true team player style, he’s already devising his plan of attack.
“I reckon it’d just be Ange telling me what to do all the time.”
While there’s no plans to have him switch roles, for now, you can catch The Amazing Race host, Beau Ryan on the new Celebrity Edition when it premieres on Wednesday, October 4 at 7:30pm. Tune into the fun at 10 and 10 Play on Demand or it when you like on 10 Play.
