Rush Australia winner Hamish

Nine

Ladies and gents, we have a winner! The first-ever Rush Australia champion has been crowned, and it’s none other than the fearless and determined Hamish. After a whirlwind adventure across eight incredible countries, Hamish has conquered the heart-pounding challenges and emerged victorious in the breathtaking finale set in South Africa.

Hamish came out on top and claimed the ultimate prize — $100,000 and two first-class around-the-world tickets. The celebration was even sweeter, as his mum was there to witness his victory.

Speaking with The Latch after his historic win, Hamish revealed that being crowned the first-ever winner of Rush Australia felt “surreal”. He admitted that the reality of his victory might sink in only after the episode airs, but he couldn’t deny the thrill of the moment.

It Was A Thrill Until the End

Throughout the competition, Hamish faced intense challenges that stretched his limits and tested his resolve. When asked about the most memorable moment during the final missions in South Africa, he couldn’t contain his excitement as he recounted the bungee jump off Bloukrans Bridge.

“It was incredible,” he recalled. “So all three of us take off the mask and we look down and you’re looking down over the bridge. And it’s the biggest bungee jump in the world. So we’re just like, ‘Oh, my goodness’.”

“I was super proud of Sofia and CK. They both have a fear of heights, so both of them were really freaking out. But I was so proud that they did jump.”

He laughed.

“And then there was crazy me,” he said. “I was like, ‘I’m going to do it backwards because I’m a bit of an idiot.”

A Journey of Self-Discovery

Hamish’s journey on Rush Australia not only showcased his adventurous spirit but also taught him valuable lessons about himself. Accustomed to solo travel, he navigated a new dynamic in the competition that required building strategic relationships.

I’ve done a lot of solo travel and obviously, this is very different to travelling, this is very much a competition, you’re pushing yourself as hard as you can,” he admitted.

But it was that group dynamic, particularly when we had to vote one or the other off. We had to build those strategic relationships. So that was definitely a new element of travelling I’ve never had before, or even had to think about.”

He added: “So that was quite fun developing the friendships. And then team Scarlett became so incredibly close.”

His victory not only crowned him as the first-ever champion but also revealed a side of himself that he cherishes — a true adventurer at heart, ready to take on the world, one thrilling challenge at a time.

“I think towards the end of the show, everyone was pretty keen to get back home and I think I was the only person that wanted to keep on going,” he laughed.
