This year, Network Ten has been serving up all kinds of new and exciting shows. We’ve said “I could do that” while watching Hunted Australia and The Traitors, and set sail with The Real Love Boat, destination: true love. Now, Ten has given us one last reality competition series to close out the year in The Challenge Australia.
Hosted by Brihony Dawson, The Challenge Australia sees sports legends, influencers and reality TV stars go head to head in a series of intense physical challenges, all while living under the same roof of a very glam villa in Buenos Aires, where the show filmed.
Not only are they competing for the grand prize of $200,000, but the winner will also go on to represent Australia in the first ever The Challenge: Global Championship, where they’ll go up against the winners of The Challenge Argentina, The Challenge USA, and The Challenge UK.
One of the stars competing for the win is Grant Crapp, who you may remember from that time he was crowned the winner of Love Island Australia in the show’s first season.

Should electrician and business owner Crapp win The Challenge Australia, the reality star is hoping to put the prize toward building his dream home.
“I’d like to build my forever home for my family and I,” he said in a press statement. “We’re currently a family of three, soon to be four!”
For the unfamiliar, Crapp won Love Island Australia alongside Tayla Damir after sparks flew between the pair during the filming of the show’s first season.
However, after the series wrapped, it was revealed that Crapp actually had a secret girlfriend, Lucy Cartwright, outside the villa. Scandal!
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Crapp and Damir split shortly after the news of Cartwright’s existence came to light, but Crapp and Cartwright are still going strong, so perhaps true love did prevail in the end.
Crapp and Cartwright welcomed their first child, daughter Charli Zoe Crapp in April of 2021, and baby number two is due in January 2023. Since Crapp won Love Island Australia, they’ve also purchased two homes, but Crapp is hoping that winning The Challenge would help set the family up with more long-term financial stability.
Still, when he got the call to appear on the series, he was honoured.
“Being a part of The Challenge to me, is a lot,” he said in a press statement. “To be cast in the best reality show in the world is very special and I’m very grateful for it.”
As for any potential hurdles he’ll have to overcome on his way to the win, though, Crapp said that he was concerned about working with his “problem-solving skills on the run”, during the gruelling physical challenges.
“I get very flustered easily,” he explained.
Will he be able to take home the win? Only time will tell. Until then…
The Challenge Australia airs at 7.30pm on Network Ten on Mondays and Tuesdays. Catch up on 10 Play.
