Gladiators is back, and the stakes are higher than ever. In this reboot of the iconic 90s series, a group of Australians compete in a gauntlet of physical challenges. They do their best in aerial wrestling matches, obstacle course races, and feats of physical strength, all in the name of glory.
However, in Gladiators 2024, glory isn’t the only prize up for grabs. For one male competitor and one female competitor will score the opportunity to star in Gladiators 2025.
According to Liz Ellis, the co-host of Gladiators, this prize has inspired the best in each and every competitor. In a phone call with The Latch, she said that it pushed them all to their limits.
“The big prize at the end of the series is not just the trophy, it’s the ability to become a Gladiator next year,” Liz explained.
“That was a real driving force for [the competitors]. They put everything on the line. And you know when they get to the end of the eliminations, you know that they have nothing left to give.”
So, what makes a competitor worthy of becoming a regular cast member? Wins. They have to win numerous challenges in multiple episodes.

Gladiators 2024: What We Can Expect Next
From Liz Ellis’ perspective, the rest of this series is going to be just the high stakes of the first eight episodes. She believes that the rest of eps will combine to create a super engaging story.
“I think the viewers can expect some great family viewing,” Liz said. “At the heart of it is this contest, this David versus Goliath contest. It’s a sporting spectacle wrapped in fun and entertainment. So I think it just makes for some really great family TV.”
