UNIQLO is our first port of call for high-quality wardrobe basics and we eagerly await the seasonal drops of the Uniqlo U collections (and set alarms for said launches so we can snap up pieces for the whole team here at The Latch!) so, with this dedication in mind, it makes sense that face masks created by the retailer would be equally as sought after.
Following widespread customer requests to develop a mask that would both optimise protection and comfort for daily wear, the team at UNIQLO has done just that. And, after gaining immense popularity overseas, UNIQLO has officially launched the AIRism Mask into all Australian stores.
Available in three sizes (small, medium and large), the AIRism Mask features a triple-layer structure. The middle layer includes a filter that delivers a bacterial filtration efficiency of 99% as it blocks droplets and helps to protect from bacteria and pollen.
The mesh fabric used to encase the mask makes it much more comfortable to wear than non-woven or cotton masks. The AIRism Mask was actually built around consumer response in Japan, where masks are continuously innovated upon in order to improve the quality and function of the product.
When creating and testing the AIRism Mask, UNIQLO noted that consumers prefer reusable masks as it reduces their impact on the environment so the team was sure to create a face covering that could be reused and was machine washable with regular household detergent. Testing of the mask showed the filter inside the triple-layer structure to still retain its efficacy after 20 washes at 40 degrees.
The AIRism Mask comes in two colours (black and white) and costs $19.90 for a pack of three. True to UNIQLO’s signature style, the masks are plain and feature cotton loops that sit around your ears, so the coverings won’t clash or distract from your outfit — perfect for those who prefer a more minimalist approach. Shop the AIRism Mask in-store or online.
