Sweating it out in a sauna hasn’t been possible for the last few months, with sauna studios closed alongside gyms and beauty salons.
Infrared saunas offer a host of health benefits from improving cardiovascular and lung health to treating skin conditions like acne, psoriasis, and eczema. While gyms and studios will eventually be able to reopen, recreating the sauna experience at home means you’ll be able to reap those health benefits now. The easiest way to do this is with a sauna blanket.
MiHIGH is the Aussie brand behind the infrared sauna blanket, which looks similar to a sleeping bag. You simply climb into the blanket and sweat it out for 30 to 60 minutes. According to MiHIGH, the sauna blanket uses infrared heat to detoxify, calm the body and mind and burn calories. Infrared heat is also great for boosting collagen, reducing inflammation and rejuvenating skin.
“Infrared heat allows your body to produce an abundance of calming chemicals,” reads the MiHIGH website. “You’ll step out of your blanket feeling happier, less stressed, and you’ll enjoy deep sleep.”
A sweat sesh in the sauna blanket is also comparable to going for a run, according to MiHIGH. “A 30-minute jog burns around 300 calories,” the website says. “A 30-minute session in your MiHIGH Infrared Blanket will burn up to 600 calories.”
The blanket is controlled by a handheld device that switches the blanket on and off and MiHIGH recommends using the device two to three times a week. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to reach the full temperature but you should feel some heat after only two minutes.
The temperature setting ranges from 25 to 80 degrees celsius and MiHIGH recommends starting between 50-60 degrees celsius and working up from there. The blanket itself is completely waterproof, so you can simply wipe away sweat after use.
The MiHIGH Infrared Sauna Blanket retails for $649. It is currently sold out but you can pre-order your blankie on the website.
Sweating it out has never been so comfortable.
