Today, the 29th Screen Actors Guild Award winners will be announced, marking another day, another award show, and another step closer to the 95th Academy Awards next month.

The SAG Awards are voted for by — you guessed it — members of the Screen Actors Guild. Each year, the Guild randomly selects two committees of 2,100 each, representing the film and television branches of the group. Each committee is responsible for selecting the nominations, and once the nominees are announced, the full SAG membership can vote for the winners. The Screen Actors Guild has roughly 160,000 members.

The SAG Awards are considered a major precursor award for future Oscar winners, and was especially successful last year in picking the eventual Academy Award nominees — CODA was awarded in the SAG Awards’ Best Ensemble Cast category, and went on to win Best Picture. In the major acting categories, Jessica Chastain, Will Smith, Ariana DeBose, and Troy Kotsur all picked up SAG Awards and went on to win Academy Awards, also.

Who Is Nominated at the 2023 SAG Awards?

Leading the nominations this year are The Banshees of Inisherin and Everything Everywhere All At Once, with five nominations each. Both films nominated for the SAG’s ensemble cast award, which is the SAG Awards equivalent to Best Picture.

Also nominated for the ensemble cast award are BabylonThe Fabelmans, and Women Talking.

Meanwhile, over in the solo acting categories, Australia’s Cate Blanchett will go up against Michelle Yeoh, Viola Davis, Ana de Armas, and Danielle Deadwyler in the lead actress race. Meanwhile, Austin Butler, Colin Farrell, Brendan Fraser, Bill Nighy, and Adam Sandler will duke it out for the lead actor award.

Over on the television side of things, the stacked drama series field includes nods for Better Call Saul, The CrownOzarkSeverance, and The White Lotus. In comedy, Abbott ElementaryBarryHacksThe Bear and Only Murders in the Building are in the running.

Notably, last year’s big winners — Succession and Ted Lasso — were ineligible this year.

In Australia, the show will kick off at 12pm AEDT, and you can stream it live on Netflix’s YouTube channel. Otherwise, read on for the complete list of winners, updating live throughout the show.
