Secrets will surface. That’s the promise of Riptide, at any rate, which is the latest Australian mystery to hit the small screen.
Riptide follows single mum-turned-newlywed Alison (Jo Joyner), who marries Sean (Peter O’Brien), and older (and wealthier) man. The newlyweds move into a stunning coastal home with Alison’s teenage daughter Hannah (Asher Yasbincek), but tension is brewing.
Sean’s adult son (Benny Turland), doesn’t approve of Alison and Sean’s marriage, so it’s not ideal when Sean goes missing after his morning surf. Not only is Alison devastated, but questions arise. Did Sean get caught in a dangerous riptide? Or is there something more sinister going on?
If you’re a fan of a good mystery, then Riptide will be just the show for you this winter. Here’s everything we know about Network 10’s new drama.

Riptide Cast: Where Have You Seen Them Before?
Ten’s latest drama has us hooked, but if you’re wondering where you’ve seen the Riptide cast before, you’re not alone!
The show stars UK actor Jo Joyner as Alison. You’d likely recognise her from her time on Eastenders, Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators, Ackley Bridge or Stay Close.
Also from the UK is Ciarán Griffiths, who’s playing Michael. You’d recognise him from his stints on Coronation Street, Shameless, and The Bill.
As for the Australian cast, Riptide has a great mix of familiar faces and up-and-coming talent.
There’s two-time Logie winner Peter O’Brien playing Sean. You’d know him from Neighbours, Tidelands or GLOW. David Berry plays Dan, and it’s likely you recognise him from A Place to Call Home, or Outlander.
Asher Yasbincek plays Hannah, fresh off the heels of Netflix’s smash reboot of Aussie classic Heartbreak High, and Ally Fowler plays Rachel. You’ll know her from Wentworth, Neighbours, and All Saints. Pia Miranda plays Jenny, and of course, you’ll recognise her from Looking for Alibrandi, or maybe from her time on Australian Survivor or even Dancing With the Stars.
Rounding out the cast are our rising stars, in Yazeed Daher (The Heights, The Hunting, Safe Harbour), and newcomer Benjamin Samaddar.
How Many Episodes Will Riptide Have?
Riptide is a four-part limited series.
Where Was Riptide Filmed?
Riptide was filmed in Victoria. Filming locations for the show were primarily located in Mount Eliza, as well as the Dandenong Ranges. Both locations are approximately an hour’s drive outside of Melbourne.
Mount Eliza is a coastal village located between Frankston and Mornington. For those who enjoy getting outdoors, Ranelagh Beach and Mount Eliza Regional Park are for you. For those who want to explore the bustling town centre, there are plenty of boutique shops, cafés and restaurants to check out. There’s also the Mount Eliza Farmers’ Market, which is held on the fourth Sunday of every month.
Meanwhile, the Dandenong Ranges are the place to go if you’re looking to reconnect with nature. With incredible and picturesque views, you can enjoy a peaceful forest walk, or challenge yourself to make it to the top of the 1000 steps walk.
When Is Riptide on?
Riptide airs weekly on Wednesdays, at 8.40pm. You can watch it live on 10 or 10 Play on Demand, or, if you miss an episode, you can catch up on 10 Play. Episode 2 will air on Wednesday, July 5. Episodes 3 and 4 will air back-to-back on Wednesday, July 12.
