Will Gareth Whitton’s Tarts Make Him a ‘MasterChef: Dessert Masters’ Icon?

Gareth Whitton is on MasterChef: Dessert Masters

Gareth Whitton is a legend who has worked in three Michelin star restaurants. He is also known for making the most exquisite of tarts, but does he have what it takes to win MasterChef: Dessert Masters?

In November 2023, MasterChef: Dessert Masters is kicking off. What’s more, unlike a regular season of MasterChef Australia, this series will pit professional pastry chefs against other professional pastry chefs. This means that Gareth will be up against the likes of Adriano Zumbo, Andy Bowdy, and Anna Polyviou.

Here is everything we know about Gareth before his latest MasterChef stint.

Who Is Gareth Whitton?

Gareth Whitton rose to culinary fame during Melbourne’s 2020 COVID lockdown. During this time, he was creating a lot of tarts for his friends and family. Soon enough, his hobby snowballed, and Gareth launched his business, Tarts Anon.

Around this time, Gareth’s tarts gained a reception for selling quickly. They were also dubbed “the cult tarts that Melbourne didn’t know it needed”.

As it stands, Tarts Anon has a rotating menu of goodies. This brand now has two retail stores and employs around 20 staff members.

Like all great chefs, Gareth is also writing a cookbook.

Will Gareth Whitton Win MasterChef: Dessert Masters?

Gareth Whitton is far from the biggest celebrity on MasterChef: Dessert Masters. However, that means he’s a dark horse contender. There’s a strong possibility that his tarts are worthy of a grand final prize.

Additionally, Gareth made a guest appearance on MasterChef Australia’s Season 14, in which he made a smoked pecan and butterscotch tart. This means that he might be more familiar with the MasterChef format than some of his Dessert Masters rivals.

MasterChef: Dessert Masters is set to premiere at 7.30pm on Sunday, November 12, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand. If you miss this episode, you can catch up on 10 Play.
