At 22 years old, Lourdes is the youngest contestant on the 2024 season of MasterChef Australia. But while she’s a talented cook, she still has a lot left to learn. During the season’s first immunity challenge, Lourdes attempted to serve a pork chop with a cooked side of corn — a dish she had never made before. While her corn was well received, her pork was too dry.
Fortunately for Lourdes, there’s still a chance for her to grow while competing on MasterChef Australia. According to the judge, Jean-Christophe Novelli, every single contestant left this series a better cook.
“We saw the people changing,” Jean-Christophe said in an interview with The Latch. “They were all changing their attitudes, growing in confidence. We discovered that some people grew quicker than others and some took a longer time. But at the end of the day, everyone, and I mean every single one of them, they all achieved something in MasterChef Australia.”

Who Is Lourdes on MasterChef Australia 2024?
MasterChef Australia’s Lourdes is a marketing consultant who grew up in Melbourne. But while Lourdes is Aussie, her cooking style is strongly influenced by Spanish cuisine. Her mother, Laly, and her Yiayia, Ana Maria, hail from Catalonia, and her family has strong ties to their homeland.
Lourdes first learnt to cook as a teenager. For a while, Lourdes was a vegetarian and had to make her own meals. It was during these kitchen sessions that Lourdes first discovered her passion for cooking.
While Lourdes loves savoury foods, she also has a strong sweet tooth, and she’s hoping her broad palette will be an asset through the competition.
While Lourdes is competing in the MasterChef Australia kitchen, her family, friends, and boyfriend are cheering her on from home. Lourdes is hoping that she can use her time on MasterChef Australia to secure a book publishing deal and write a cookbook.
