On the 2024 season of MasterChef Australia, Lily has been running in the middle of the pack. During the very first episode, she made poppy seed choux buns with horseradish cream cheese, a dish the judges thought was middling. Likewise, in last Tuesday’s episode, she baked a lemon custard tart that the judges found underwhelming.
While Lily hasn’t been eliminated on MasterChef Australia, she might soon find herself on the chopping block. According to the judge, Jean-Christophe Novelli, the calibre of this year’s top cooks will leave the rest of Australia in the dust.
“You forget they’re not chefs,” Jean-Christophe said in an interview with The Latch. “They are amateur cooks. I keep forgetting that. I was judging them like professional chefs. The contestants are just so good. And the atmosphere, the ambience, the emotion, the speed? It’s just on the next level.”

Lily’s cooking style is best known for being homely, hearty, and made with love. She is confident in balancing flavours and has a knack for making disparaging ingredients work in unison.
On MasterChef Australia, Lily wants to make her mother, Jo, proud. Back in the day, Jo was a chef who trained at Le Cordon Bleu, becoming one of the youngest ever to teach there, aged 18.
The winner of MasterChef Australia receives $250,000. If Lily wins this money, she may use it to create her own deli-style eatery. Her place will have relaxed wine bar vibes, featuring phenomenal food and drinks.
