Every season of MasterChef Australia has created a famous chef or two. The show’s very first season propelled the winner Julie Goodwin and runner-up Poh Ling Yeow into stardom. The proceeding years made chefs like Andy Allen, Adam Liaw, and Hayden Quinn beloved across Australia. In 2024, there’s a chance MasterChef Australia will make Darrsh a household name.
But Darrsh has some steep competition. In MasterChef Australia’s latest season, he’ll be up against 21 other budding chefs. All of his competitors are excellent cooks and just as hungry to win. The winner of MasterChef Australia wins $250,000 and a mystery prize. MasterChef Australia is claiming its mystery prize is something invaluable and an experience money can’t buy.
Whether or not MasterChef Australia’s Darrsh can make it to the 2024 finals still remains to be seen. Here’s everything we know about this fresh contestant.
Who Is MasterChef Australia’s Darrsh?
MasterChef Australia’s Darrsh is a Western Australian who’s always loved the culinary arts. As the only child of Sri Lankan parents, Darrsh spent many childhood nights in his late father’s workplace, an Indian restaurant. When Darrsh watched his dad cook, he was overcome with awe.
Darrsh was also inspired by his grandmother. When Darrsh was six, she introduced him to the joys of baking. She also shared many Sri Lankan cooking traditions with him.

But while Darrsh has always loved food, he never became a chef. To make his parents proud, he completed a Management and Marketing degree. Only now can Darrsh admit he wants to work in a kitchen.
If Darrsh wins MasterChef Australia, he’ll use the prize money to open up his own fusion bar and restaurant. Like every task he approaches, he’s going to give this competition his all.
