On April 10, LEGO Masters returned to Aussie televisions for a fifth season. However, unlike the previous seasons, this one comes with a subtitle. That subtitle being Grand Masters.
So what is the premise of LEGO Masters? And what separates Grand Masters from the rest of the pack? Let’s answer these questions right now:
What Is LEGO Masters All About?
LEGO Masters is an Aussie reality comp that premiered on Nine Network in April 2019. This series is based on a British program with the same name. In LEGO Masters, teams of two compete against each other in gnarly LEGO building challenges. Each episode has a specific theme and goal.
The winner of each season typically wins $100,000. However, in season four, the program’s host spiced things up. Hamish Blake donated an additional $50 to the winning team.
What Is Grand Masters All About?
On a standard season of LEGO Masters, all of the participants are new. But for Grand Masters, they’ve brought back some fan favourites.
This season of stars:
Kale and Trent
Kale is from season one, while Trent is from season two.
Kale’s jobs include being a “brick artist and toy photographer”. Meanwhile, Trent is both an accountant and a mega toy collector.
Henry and Sarah
Henry won season one, while Sarah’s from season three. Because Henry is already top-tier, he’s feeling the pressure to win.
Ryan and Gabby
Ryan is a primary school teacher, and Gabby is an occupational therapist. They are both from season three.
In this pairing, Ryan brings structure, while Gabby bring colourful creativity.
Andrew and Damian
Andrew and Damian are best friends that met in at a Queensland LEGO club. They were runners-up in season two.
Their biggest build’s a massive replica of Scotland’s Iona Abbey.
Scott and Owen
Scott and Owen are also best friends. They were runners-up in season three.
Their goal is to get the smaller details just right, as this has let them down in the past.
Alex and Caleb
Alex is a law student, and Caleb’s a makeup artist. They were runners-up in season four.
Since being on LEGO Masters, Alex and Caleb have been practising. Should the other team’s be nervous?
Gus and David
Gus and David are good mates. They won season three.
They are best known for their build a Fox in First Snow, which was an intricate fox in a snow globe.
Joss and Henry
Joss and Henry are brothers. They won season four.
So, why have these boys returned? Well, they’re back to push the LEGO envelope and try some stuff which is beyond their comfort zones.
