The Secrets and Surprises Are About to Begin on ‘MasterChef Australia’ 2023

Since publishing this story, Network Ten has announced the death of MasterChef Australia judge Jock Zonfrillo on April 30, 2023. MasterChef Australia Secrets and Surprises will now premiere on Sunday, May 7, with the full support of Zonfrillo’s family.

When Does MasterChef Australia: Secrets and Surprises Start?

MasterChef Australia: Secrets and Surprises was originally set to premiere on Monday, May 1 at 7.30pm. However, just hours before the season was set to premiere, Network 10 confirmed the sudden death of judge Jock Zonfrillo on Sunday, April 30.

In a statement, Network Ten noted that MasterChef Australia would not air as intended from May 1 – 4. However, on Wednesday, May 3, the Network announced a revised start date for MasterChef Australia: Secrets and Surprises.

“With the full support of Jock Zonfrillo’s family, MasterChef Australia will air at 7.30pm on Sunday, 7 May,” Network 10 announced.

The statement continued: “It is with Jock in our hearts that we cherish this season and remember the charismatic and big-hearted Judge and Chef who we knew and loved.

“Jock will be remembered in the MasterChef Australia kitchen for years to come.”

The network also announced that The Sunday Project would air a tribute to the late chef. The episode will immediately precede the premiere of MasterChef, airing at 6.30pm on Sunday, 7 May.
