Yes, it’s wild that it’s September and I’m already writing a story about Christmas, but if you want to be prepared with gifts this year, the time to start thinking about them is now.
One reason is the expected shipping delays. With COVID outbreaks at shipping ports, not to mention a boom in mail deliveries, Australia Post has warned us to order our Christmas presents early if we want to make sure they arrive on time.
The other reason, however, is this: some presents are sure to sell out. And among those is the new LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar, which launched at the start of September and already had its first drop sell out on LEGO’s official site in the US (you can still buy it on other sites like Amazon and Target in the US and it’s not yet sold out on LEGO’s site here in Australia).
Inspired by Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 2, the calendar, which will set you back $49.99, has a LEGO figure, buildable vehicle, weapon or accessory behind each of its 24 doors. And while the toys can be used to relive some of the movie’s epic scenes or to roleplay your own adventures, the calendar itself makes for a festive display piece you can place in your lounge room or bedroom.
Also new to the LEGO advent calendar series this year is a Harry Potter-themed edition, also $49.99. The calendar has minifigures of the movies’ characters, including Harry, Ron and Hermione, as well as other iconic items and accessories. Best of all, behind its door 24 is a spinner that you can use for the board game printed on the calendar, meaning the fun doesn’t have to stop at Christmas.
LEGO Marvel The Avengers Advent Calendar, LEGO Friends Advent Calendar and LEGO City Advent Calendar are also new to the line-up this year.
