Infrared sauna therapy is a wonder treatment for skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema, while also increasing your body’s circulation. In turn, it can lead to glowy and healthy-looking skin thanks to the added blood flow.
But, popping off to the local infrared sauna isn’t viable for many people right now, so investing in a space-efficient infrared device is the next best thing. Enter: Sunlighten’s lumiNIR.
This small handheld device is ideal for on-the-go treatments and has four LED options — near-infrared, red light, near-infrared/red light and blue light, allowing it to deliver the highest quality infrared light therapy in the palm of your hand.
“The lumiNIR features the breakthrough LED technology first introduced in our Sunlighten 3-in-1 infrared saunas,” Sunlighten’s marketing director for ANZ, Gabriella Franklin, told The Latch.
“This utilises Near Infrared (NIR) Light Therapy, a form of photo-biomodulation (low-level light therapy) that uses invisible, near-infrared wavelengths proven to deliver energy to cells to accelerate their repair and replenishment. Infrared light is a safe therapy and is part of the sun’s invisible light spectrum (without the harmful rays) which is necessary for all living things to grow and flourish.”
One concern you are able to target with the lumiNIR device is ageing. The use of red LED light helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, redness and inflammation, as well as increasing collagen and elastin production. Meanwhile, the addition of near-infrared (NIR) delivers light energy to cells and tissues to improve cellular performance and promote skin renewal and cell health.
“Sunlighten used NASA research to develop a patented LED attachment that NIR using a specific wavelength of 880nm,” Franklin said. “The NIR wavelength will trigger a natural, photo-biochemical reaction, recharging the cell’s mitochondria and stimulate cellular turnover. This helps improve cellular performance and promote skin renewal, cell health, wound healing and tissue growth.”
The device also combines both the red and NIR light in order to target two different levels of cells simultaneously. The red light wavelength combined with the near-infrared wavelength promotes healing by increasing oxygen flow to the joints and muscles for natural pain relief. And, you can use this device on other areas of the body to reap these benefits, much like you would with a conventional infrared sauna.
“The infrared technology found in the lumiNIR is safe to use on your legs, arms, stomach, torso and back to assist with muscle pain, aide wound healing and treat problematic, acne-prone skin, amongst other ailments or areas of concern,” said Franklin. “For example, if you had a cut on your hand you could use the lumiNIR over a 4-week period to aid the wound healing process.”
The device is easy enough to use, you simply need to cleanse and dry your skin, choose your intensity level on the lumiNIR and place directly onto your face.
The Sunlighten lumiNIR retails for $795 via the Sunlighten website.
