It’s back, baby! That’s right, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is back for Season 9, and as usual, it’s already bringing the laughs and chaos we’ve come to love and expect.
After two seasons of filming in northern New South Wales due to COVID, the borders are open once again, which means I’m a Celeb is back in South Africa, and coming to us live from the jungle.
Hosts Julia Morris and Dr Chris Brown are also back, and this season, the premise is simple: make it fun, make it funny, make it a good time for all involved — well, except the celebs, maybe. Having snakes dumped on you or being challenged to ingest a warthog testicle doesn’t sound like much fun to us, to be honest, but look, they knew what they were getting themselves into, right?!
But if you’ve tuned in for all the fun and found yourself thinking “sorry, who is that?” — you’re not alone. Luckily, we’ve got all the goss on who these celebs are, what they’re known for, where you’ve seen them before, and what charity they’re competing for.
One of the celebs who’s made his way to the jungle for the chance to take out the win this season is comedian Peter Helliar, who’s competing for Legacy Australia.

Who Is Peter Helliar?
Peter Helliar is a comedian who has been a staple of Australian television since he first appeared on Rove Live back in the late 90s. More recently, he was a co-host of The Project from 2014 until the end of 2022.
Peter left The Project to spend more time focusing on his passions of writing and stand up comedy. He’s been writing and performing comedy for over 20 years, and has been selling out shows across Australia.
Over the course of his career, Peter has embraced all kinds of entertainment. He’s worked behind the scenes in screenwriting, co-hosted radio shows, and created, directed, and starred in films and television series.
Peter created and co-produced the award-winning series It’s a Date, and wrote, directed and starred in the dramedy series How to Stay Married.
Currently, Peter is hosting Family Feud, The Podcast for Apple, as well as film podcast You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet.
Peter is also the author of a beloved children’s book series, Frankie Fish. The series is dedicated to his toughest critics — his kids, Liam, Aiden and Oscar, who he says are also his “champions”. His most recent children’s book, Herman Crab, was released at the end of 2022.
What Does Legacy Australia Do?
Peter Helliar is braving the jungle of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! on behalf of Legacy Australia.
The charity focuses on providing support to the partners and children of veterans. Whether its families who have lost loved ones in war, or supporting veterans who have returned from war with physical and mental scars, Legacy Australia aims to provide support and resources to those in need.
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! airs at 7.30pm, Sunday – Thursdays, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
