It’s back, baby! That’s right, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is back for Season 9, and as usual, it’s already bringing the laughs and chaos we’ve come to love and expect.
After two seasons of filming in northern New South Wales due to COVID, the borders are open once again, which means I’m a Celeb is back in South Africa, and coming to us live from the jungle.
Hosts Julia Morris and Dr Chris Brown are also back, and this season, the premise is simple: make it fun, make it funny, make it a good time for all involved — well, except the celebs, maybe. Having snakes dumped on you or being challenged to ingest a warthog testicle doesn’t sound like much fun to us, to be honest, but look, they knew what they were getting themselves into, right?!
But if you’ve tuned in for all the fun and found yourself thinking “sorry, who is that?” — you’re not alone. Luckily, we’ve got all the goss on who these celebs are, what they’re known for, where you’ve seen them before, and what charity they’re competing for.
One of the celebs who’s made her way to the jungle for the chance to take out the win this season is netball legend Liz Ellis, who is competing for Share the Dignity.

Who Is Liz Ellis?
Liz Ellis is a netball legend, but will she fumble in the jungle?
“I have a propensity to rush into things without fully thinking them through,” she admitted in a press statement. Now, she’s out in the jungle, ready to give it her best shot, but whether she can score the win remains to be seen.
What’s not in question is Liz’s drive, talent, and ambition. Liz is one of the highest profile athletes in the country, and one of the most successful netballers ever.
During her career, Liz was the captain of the Australian Netball Team, as well as the Sydney Swifts, and she surpassed the record for most test matches played for Australia. In 1997, she founded the Liz Ellis Netball Clinics, which has coached more than 30,000 young netballers to date.
She also has three World Championship gold medals, and two Commonwealth Games gold medals on her impressive résumé, and played four national premierships. Oh, and she was named Australia’s Most Valuable Player four times. No biggie, right?
Liz was honoured for her achievements in 2009 with a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). In 2018, she was elevated to an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO). This was in recognition for all that Liz has done for the sport, not just as a player and coach, but also through her support and advocacy for young women, as well as her contributions to media in support of the sport.
A regular on The Project, Liz has also made many TV appearances over the years. She’s also hosted countless radio shows, and done sports commentating and presenting. Recently, Liz appeared on the new series of Who Do You Think You Are? to learn all about her ancestors. Basically? She’s a busy lady!
What Does Share the Dignity Do?
Liz is competing on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! for Share the Dignity, which is all about helping vulnerable women and people who menstruate ensure they have access to sanitary items.
Share the Dignity’s goal is to end period poverty in Australia, which affects many people who are unhoused, fleeing domestic violence situations, or generally doing it tough.
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! airs at 7.30pm, Sunday – Thursdays, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
