How to Watch the Oscars In Australia

The 2023 Oscar ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 12 in the United States, which is Monday, March 13 in Australia.

Channel 7 and 7plus will offer free, live Oscars coverage. The festivities kick off during Sunrise’s 5:30 am broadcast, with Sonia Kruger delivering live coverage from the star-studded red carpet.

The Oscars ceremony will be broadcasted live at 11.00 am AEDT.

Leading the race this year is the Daniels’ (aka Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert) Everything Everywhere All At Once with 11 nominations. Following Everything Everywhere All At Once with nine nominations each are The Banshees of Inisherin and Germany’s All Quiet on the Western Front.

It’s been a good year for Aussies, as well. Cate Blanchett is nominated for Best Actress for her portrayal of fictional conductor Lydia Tár, and Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic picked up seven nods, including one for Best Picture.

This year, Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the show, his first Oscars stint since 2018.

Rihanna Will Perform “Lift Me Up” at the 2023 Oscars

The Academy has confirmed that Rihanna will perform her Oscar-nominated song “Lift Me Up” at the 2023 Oscars.

“Lift Me Up” is featured on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, and is Rihanna’s first solo single since 2016. It is also Rihanna’s first Oscar nomination.

Dedicated to the late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, “Lift Me Up” is co-written by Rihanna, Tems, Ludwig Göransson and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler.

Rihanna is competing in the Best Original Song category against Lady Gaga and BloodPop for “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick, M.M. Keeravani and Chandrabose for “Naatu Naatu” from RRR, Diane Warren for “Applause” from Tell It Like a Woman, and Ryan Lott, David Byrne and Mitski for “This Is a Life” from Everything Everywhere All at Once.

Rihanna is the first artist to be confirmed to perform at the 95th Academy Awards, but we’ll keep you posted as more are announced.
