Does being excellent at footy make you excellent on the dancefloor? This is a question that Dancing With the Stars Australia has repeatedly asked us. In 2006, AFL’s Anthony Koutoufides won this series, and in 2020, Travis Cloke came seventh. Later this year, Hawthorn’s Shane Crawford is also stepping up to this rhythmic challenge.

In 2024, twelve Aussie celebrities team up with twelve professional dancers to learn how to ballroom dance. Some of these stars will defy our expectations, others will be comically bad, and all will make for excellent television. The winner of this show will receive the coveted Mirror Ball trophy. They’ll also get to select a charity that this series will donate $50,000 to.

Will Shane defy our expectations and become the next Anthony Koutoufides? Or is he another Travis Cloke waiting to happen? Here’s everything we know about the Dancing With the Stars contestant Shane.

Who Is Shane Crawford on Dancing With the Stars Australia

Dancing With the Stars Australia’s Shane Crawford is a legend in the AFL scene. Between 1992 and 2008, he played 305 games for Hawthorn, winning four Best and Fairest Awards. Since retiring from the AFL, Shane has appeared in multiple Aussie shows. He was a regular on The AFL Footy Show, presented on Getaway, and hosted Australian Ninja Warrior. Shane is currently a presenter on the travel series Postcards.

Shane also loves spending time with his family. Alongside his partner, Olivia Anderson, Shane is raising his four teenage boys: Charlie, Benjamin, and the twins Jack and Harry.

Can Shane Crawford Win Dancing With the Stars Australia in 2024?

In a recent interview, Shane Crawford stated that he’s training for his appearance on Dancing With the Stars Australia. He’s going to give this series his undivided attention.

“Last year, I had the opportunity but I was going overseas, taking the big boys on a boys trip, and didn’t want to practise while I was away,’’ Shane said. “Then it came up again and I said I’d love to. You’ve got to be all in to train and go for it.”

“It’s a brilliant crew. You just get to be you.”
