There’s no secret bunker this time!
Angela Clancy suffered her final Big Brother house blow, becoming the 10th housemate evicted.
After finally feeling like she was on the side of Mat Garrick and Daniel Gorringe, Clancy was eliminated with a total of nine of ten possible votes against her.
“That didn’t come as a surprise to me because I knew that everybody wanted to get this big fish out,” she said in a post-elimination chat with TheLatch—, before adding: “I would have taken Angela out that night as well, so well played to them.”
During the episode, Sophie Budack nominated the mother-of-two, saying she was physically and mentally her “biggest threat”.
“I actually congratulated her and said, “well done” and good on her because she owned that and she beat the boys. To be taken out by a girl, I respected that so much because the boys were useless in challenges,” Clancy said during the interview.
While she missed out on making it to the top ten and winning the cool $250k, the event planner achieved what she set out to do — and that was to prove to herself she could do it.
“I’m very proud because I left no table unturned. I ticked every box. I was true to myself from the beginning. I went into the house with a bang and left the house with a bang,” she said.
Here, Clancy talks to TheLatch— about her elimination, why Daniel should win the whole show and accidentally revealed the current status of Chad and Sophie.
Anita Lyons: Hi Angela, as much as I’m thrilled to be speaking to you again, I’m so sorry you were evicted!
How do you feel about Mat and Daniel bringing you into the fold, only to eliminate you?
AC: I was just taking it day-by-day, so when they took me in for the banquet it was very smart of Daniel because like he said in the diary room, he needed me for his next eviction because he thought I would take him through.
It’s true because I was in an alliance with Shane [Vincent] who had an alliance with all the new housemates, and me and Kieran [Davidson] and Marissa [Rancan], then the alphas in the other one so there wasn’t anything for me to lose.
They wanted Shane gone and I was happy to join them to get Shane out because he was the leader of the new housemates.
Then when the next one came and ultimately got me evicted, that didn’t come as a surprise to me because I knew that everybody wanted to get this big fish out. So when Sophie won that challenge and she nominated me, I was like “it’s nothing personal, it’s a game”. I would have done the same. I would have taken Angela out that night as well so well played to them. I don’t hold any grudges for that.
AL: What don’t we know about Mat, Daniel and Xavier?
AC: You haven’t missed anything. Daniel was the head of the house and the others were just “yes” people. He said what he needed them to do and that’s exactly what they did.
They played Daniel’s game and that’s what they did. Just support him. Exactly what you’ve been shown is exactly what was happening.
AL: The last time we spoke, you told me that you went on Big Brother for yourself. Are proud of what you achieved while in the house?
AC: I’m very proud because I left no table unturned. I ticked every box. I was true to myself from the beginning. I went into the house with a bang and left the house with a bang.
I told everybody and gave everyone a receipt of their behaviour. I analysed them and I gave it to them before I left the house because I didn’t want to look back and think, “Oh shit, I should have said that.”
So, I’m happy today looking back, knowing that I got it all out of my chest and I’m happy with how I played the game.
Even when I sit back and watch with my kids and my husband Damian in the evening, I owned it and they’re very proud of me. I didn’t do the low blows like Casey did because I don’t do that. That’s not me.
AL: Speaking of Casey [Muzzucchelli], you had an argument on the eviction couch. Have you spoken to her since?
AC: No, I haven’t spoken to Casey. We haven’t had a chat because there’s nothing to chat about, you know? Casey doesn’t really talk much and even outside the house, she’s not really my type of friend. We’re going to be cordial but I made it clear in the house that I’m not playing a personal game. I’m removing all emotions out of it and when she did the low blow, she made it personal.
I was not getting down and dirty with her, because that’s not me, so that’s why I didn’t engage. She needed to calm down.
That’s the only thing she ever said to me the whole time I was there. I never had a conversation with Casey until that moment and now my name will be attached to hers.
AL: Sophie voted because you were her biggest threat, I think that’s the ultimate compliment.
AC: Exactly. Even when she won the challenge and we sat down and I asked why she nominated me, I wasn’t angry at her.
I actually congratulated her and said, “well done” and good on her because she owned that and she beat the boys. To be taken out by a girl, I respected that so much because the boys were useless in challenges.
I told her “Girl, why waste an opportunity when you win a challenge to take a big fish out” and she did.
Me and Sophie are very good friends today, she’s like my little sister.
AL: I really like Sophie and Chad [Hurst] too, actually.
AC: I just wish they would date but they’re just really good friends. I’m always pushing them, “can you date”? I want to start buying a [wedding] gift now!
AL: Oh! Spoiler alert! I didn’t know they weren’t together still. It must be the distance don’t you think?
AC: Yeh, I know.
AL: When we spoke last, you told me you thought Daniel was going to win. After seeing more episodes, have you changed your mind on that? Do you think Australia will vote for someone else?
AC: I hope not. I’m a fair person and the game I was playing was Big Brother and the two people who played the game in that house was me and Daniel.
Daniel was a manipulator. He owned it, clearly, there’s no doubting that and you can’t take that away from him. At least he’s worked hard for the $250,000.
Anybody else, I can’t see the gameplay, so I can’t reward what I haven’t seen.
Daniel has owned it. It’s not my kind of gameplay, but at least he’s done some work. So, that’s why he’s my pick.
