Last year, reality TV fans everywhere were hit with a massive surprise. One of Australia’s most beloved Network 10 shows — I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! — would be set for a huge shake-up, with Dr Chris Brown departing the show after a nine-year run as co-host.
“This has honestly been the greatest professional privilege of my life to host this show,” Chris said. “It’s because of the stuff you don’t see at home. It’s because of this incredible crew that’s 400 strong, it’s our blended family that we are all so close with, and it’s this incredible creative force that comes together like you cannot imagine.”
At the time, it appeared as if Chris and his co-host, Julia Morris parted on perfect terms. However, Julia has recently revealed that she had some complex feelings about Chris leaving.
“I was shocked, I was angry,” Julia said. “But I was also fine because it’s what my friend needed to do. It was a super confusing time.
“But off he goes to renovate and travel, so that’s gonna be amazing. I love him dearly though.”
On I’m a Celebrity, Chris was replaced by the wildlife conservationist and budding national icon Robert Irwin. But why did Chris leave I’m a Celebrity in the first place? Here’s what we know.
Why Did Dr Chris Brown Leave I’m a Celebrity?
Dr Chris Brown left I’m a Celebrity to work on multiple projects for Channel 7. After departing from Network Ten, Brown is set to co-host Dancing With the Stars with Sonia Kruger, and will be the face of Seven’s new renovation series, Dream Home.
Dream Home will depict the highs and lows of everyday Aussies as they transform their dilapidated family homes into premium houses.
Offscreen, Chris has been using his time off to travel, surf at the beach, and take photos. He’s even found time to work as a veterinarian, the profession that allows him to keep the prefix of Doctor.

As a veterinarian, Chris has worked on the smash hit shows Bondi Vet and Vet Gone Wild. There’s currently speculation that Chris might replace Dr Harry Cooper on Better Homes and Gardens after Harry retires.
I’m a Celebrity’s start date is Sunday, March 24. It will be airing on Network 10 and stream live on 10 Play on Demand. Miss this episode? Catch up on 10 Play.
