Here’s What You Should Do This Weekend, According To Your Star Sign

The weekend is nigh and with the further easing of social distancing restrictions comes the opportunity to venture out of the house and visit a friend’s place, pub or bar (exciting!).

But what happens when you’d rather stay inside, having come to rather enjoy spending time at home and occupying oneself with fun indoor activities?

Well, to those seeking out something to do inside that doesn’t involve sourdough bread-making, we have a treat for you. The team at Instagram has suggested a number of enjoyable new activities perfectly suited to every star sign, with the Insta-personalities on the app to help inspire you and show you the way.

STEP BY STEP ALLA NORMA: Traditionally ricotta salata is used, but I like that stretchy creaminess of mozzarella. 1: Burn and blister the eggplant over a flame, or if you have charcoal even better. Once it’s all nicely burnt and smokey, place it in a 200 degree oven and roast it until it’s soft and collapsing on itself. Peel off all the skin and keep the silky flesh. Don’t undercook the eggplant! There is nothing worse. 2: Sauté the garlic in some evoo, add in the cherry tomatoes. Let them cook and break down a little. 3: At the same time cook the pasta. You knew that. 4: Add the Napoli sauce to the pan along with that silky smokey eggplant flesh. Stir them through to combine. You can break the eggplant up a little if needed. 5: Add in the mozzarella, allow it to melt and stretch through the sauce. Add a little of the pasta cooking water if the sauce is getting tight. 6: Add in the cooked pasta and tear up a heap of basil. Toss through with a little splosh of evoo. Check the seasoning!! Serve it up with a nice basil garnish like it’s the 90’s.

Notorious clean freaks, our dear Virgos can’t stand anything out of place. Cleaning is an activity they undertake to relax, and a weekend spent decluttering and tidying up with our favourite #cleanstagramer, @AshleeJayInteriors, is their idea of a good time. From pantries to parents rooms, this domestic goddess shows you how to flex your organisational muscles and will inspire your best home yet.

Free-spirited and adventurous Saggies love to travel and explore, so the last few months have been hard on them. Saggies, the time has come for you to venture out and get around @Shinrin-Yoko, otherwise known as forest bathing (the art of connecting with nature and surrounding yourself with the energy of the natural world). As a trend and a hashtag, #forestbathing is big on social media right now, with over 318k tags. It is proven to have many health and therapeutic benefits, too, so get hiking to a local watering hole.

Gentle and sensitive, pottery and Pisces go hand-in-hand. Empathetic Pisces often take on their friends’ problems and can absorb negativity, which is why self-care is important for them. If this sounds like you, consider ridding yourself of negative vibes with calming pottery class from @SilkyShapes. Silky Shapes studio hosts pottery classes in Sydney, but they have some impressive video tutorials on their Instagram account, perfect for beginners.

These natural-born green thumbs love to do good, and looking after plants gives them a feeling of purpose. @Leaf_Supply is the perfect account for their leafy inspiration this weekend, with a range of tips and tricks on how to plant, grow and maintain greenery.

Peaceful and idealistic Libras love to tune out and relax on any given weekend. A busy week can really take a toll on them, so wellness boosting is their top priority come Friday afternoon. Sydney-based meditation teacher Luke McLeod offers live-streamed meditation classes on his Instagram account, easily done from the comfort of your own home.

Natural born communicators, Geminis crave human interaction and mental stimulation. These more isolated times have not been easy for chatty Geminis, which is why a book or movie club is the perfect suggestion for any Gemini moving forward (if they haven’t started one already). @BabbingBooks is one of the many digital book clubs on the rise in Australia and is a great resource for finding the next page-turner.

"What's the point of having a voice if you're gonna be silent in those moments you shouldn't be?" – Angie Thomas, The Hate U Give⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Racism is not acceptable. I find it hard to believe anyone within the bubble of my reach would find that a controversial statement. But anti-racism is not as simple as repeating those words, no matter how much you believe them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Racism and associated discrimination is embedded in our societies and unpicking it is not always straightforward. There is active learning (& unlearning) required of those of us born with the privilege of being white.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today on my story I've shared some links and reading recommendations & hope you'll check them out, but I want to add Angie Thomas to your to buy/read list as well. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Hate U Give is a YA novel about the murder of a Black teenager by police and couldn't be a more sadly poignant read right now. It's also an accessible way to start a conversation about racism with any teenagers in your life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Find Your Voice, guided journal for aspiring writers was gifted to me by @walkerbooksya, and I'll be buying copies for my cousins and writer friends.
