Eco-tourism company Tiny Away has yet again added to its portfolio of nearly 100 short-stay tiny house accommodations, with five new tiny houses opening across Australia – two of them in NSW.
Hinterland Hideout is located just outside Byron Bay, in the small hinterland community of Myocum, meaning it’s close enough to the beaches, bars and buzz of Byron but remote enough for an off-the-grid experience.
Meanwhile, the just-opened tiny house Tiny Towrang can be found in the heart of the Southern Tablelands, in Goulburn. The house is located on a 40-acre hobby farm, surrounded by green pastures, farm animals and wildlife including kangaroos, wombats, and kookaburras to keep guests company. It’s in easy access to Goulburn, Canberra and the Southern Highlands region.
Back in November 2021, Tiny Away opened up five other new stays in the state, all set on remote locations, with the aim of getting visitors out of the city and into the outdoors and giving them a taste of minimalist living.
The tiny homes are in the Hunter Valley, the Mid-North Coast, Barrington Tops, the Blue Mountains and the Southern Highlands, set on rural sites including a private riverside farm, equine agistment and at the base of a national park.
“All of our properties offer something different,” said Jeff Yeo, co-founder of Tiny Away at the time of their launch. “Some are only semi-secluded and close to shops and activities, and others are in the middle of nowhere.”
“It’s all about leaving the worries of the daily grind behind and really connecting with the natural surrounds. These new properties will offer our guests exactly that, and a chance to explore more amazing regions across Australia.”
The Wabe (Little Hartley, Blue Mountains) lies in the beautiful Kanimbla Valley with views of the Blue Mountains escarpment. It’s set at the end of a quiet country lane where the only things you’ll hear are birds singing and cattle mooing. If you’re looking for outdoor activities, this tiny house is a great base for visiting Jenolan Caves, eclectic Blackheath, and the many bushwalks of the Blue Mountains.
Odyssean Tiny House (Cessnock, Hunter Valley) is only moments from Cessnock and world-famous Hunter Valley wineries but it could be a million miles away from anything. Backing onto national parklands, the tiny home has hours of walking trails right on its doorstep. And, if you’re not keen to leave, explore the home’s backyard with the company of equine friends — the property houses over 20 horses.
Les Luna at Crescent (Crescent Head, Mid North Coast) is the perfect mix of countryside and seaside, set on a 33-acre property with abundant native flora and fauna, yet only a seven-minute drive from the famous Crescent Head surf breaks and town. Guests can sit by the dam, fire up the BBQ or simply relax by the firepit in a hammock.
River’s Edge (Bowman, Barrington Tops) tiny house is set in 11 acres of park-like surroundings by the meandering Bowman River. Find a picnic spot and swimming hole for the day and settle in to listen to the sounds of the Aussie bush. If you’re keen for more activity, explore the Barrington Tops including Gloucester’s local markets and cellar doors, bushwalk through ancient rainforests or kayak the Barrington River.
Foxglove Cottage (Robertson, Southern Highlands) is perched on the banks of Missingham Creek and surrounded by stunning Southern Highlands’ National Parks with spectacular lookouts and waterfalls. Take a dip in one of the ample private swimming holes on the 20-acre property or take a leisurely rainforest walk to the edge of the escarpment overlooking the Illawarra.
