Jamie Dornan is heading Down Under in Stan’s Original Series, The Tourist. It seems the life of Christian Grey didn’t appeal to him as much, so he’s grown out his facial hair and planted himself in the Australian outback.
The streaming service not only revealed the trailer for the six-part mystery-thriller but also unveiled the premiere date which is January 2. The Fall actor will play a British man who finds himself in outback Australia, all while being followed by a vehicle that’s attempting to drive him off the road.
After the thrilling chase, Jamie, whose character is titled “The Man”, ends up in hospital with no recollection of who or where he is. The story will begin to unravel as each episode progresses, and it promises to feature many twists and turns, and an explosive conclusion.
Starring alongside Jamie will be Danielle Macdonald, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Alex Dimitriades and Damon Herriman. The series was created and written by writes Harry and Jack Williams from Emmy-winning production company Two Brothers Pictures.
The synopsis reads: “Full of shocking, surprising, funny and brutal turns, The Tourist is set in a world populated by quirky, enigmatic characters and off-beat comedy punctuates high-stakes action. At its heart, however, is a story of self-discovery with a ticking timebomb underneath: as The Man starts to uncover the mystery of who he was, he’s also forced to ask who he is now – and fast. Will he unlock the secrets of his identity before those who are trying to kill him catch up with him?”
Not sure about you, but the upcoming series definitely sounds intriguing, and who doesn’t want to experience the beauty of outback Australia … even if it is guided by murder and mystery.
The Tourist is set to premiere on Stan on January 2, 2022.
