Filmmaker Wes Anderson has a certain unmistakable style, which is why he’s built such a huge and loyal following.
It’s a little odd mixed with a little kooky and whimsical in its nature. His next film offering, The French Dispatch is no exception.
The first trailer for the highly anticipated movie by the veteran director has arrived and it stars a gaggle of some very familiar faces.
After the poster dropped, fans believed it’s artwork was reminiscent of the cover of The New York Times, speculating that the publication served as Anderson’s inspiration for the film.
And now, we have an answer.
Set in a fictional 20th-century French city, the dramedy is a “love letter to journalists” and revolves around a New Yorker-style periodical.
Arthur Howitzer, who edits the magazine “The French Dispatch”, is played by Bill Murray (Life Aquatic, The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr Fox) — because frankly speaking, an Anderson film wouldn’t be an Anderson film without Bill Murray.
“You don’t think it’s almost too seedy this time?” Howitzer asks in the trailer.
The film follows three separate storylines, all of which are published in the fictional magazine, including an artist in prison, two revolutionaries and a kidnapping.
Just like all of Anderson’s films, there is a slew of returning A-List actors to the fold including Owen Wilson, Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton.
New additions include Timothee Chamalet (Little Women), Saoirse Ronan (Little Women), Elizabeth Moss (The Handmaids Tale) and Benecio Del Toro (Avengers: Infinity War).
