Ace Hotel
Ace Hotel Sydney is the brand’s first hotel south of the equator. Situated on Wentworth Ave, just a few steps from Oxford Street, Hyde Park and Central Station, the hotel is housed in what once was a brick factory. Today, it has two restaurants, Kiln and Loam, a fitness centre and free use of bikes. Room sizes range from small to the Loft Suite and, biggest of them all, Ace Suite, which features a dining table for four, a lounge area and even a turntable and acoustic guitar.
202 Elizabeth
The newest hotel on this list, 202 Elizabeth opened in February 2023. Hidden behind discrete doors on Elizabeth Street, it has 38 rooms across six levels, many with balconies. The hotel is adults only (16+), pet-friendly and aims to bring the outdoors in with Australian artists and designers showcased on every corner. Sustainability is key here, with the hotel built from the inside out — mostly built offsite and then lifted into place by cranes.
Paramount House Hotel
Paramount House Hotel on Commonwealth Street is located in the former headquarters of Paramount Picture Studios. The space is shared with a movie theatre, café and wine bar, which are all open to the public. On the rooftop level are a restaurant and gym. Rooms all have cute names like Sunny, Mack Daddy and Nook.
Crystalbrook Albion
Cystalbrook Albion, on the quiet Little Albion Street, has only 35 rooms, and the ground floor rooms are pet friendly. The property also has a bar, a rooftop garden and a collection of art displayed on its walls. As with all Crystalbrook properties, Albion is big on sustainability and doesn’t use plastic straws, water bottles or room key cards. The hotel is partnered with Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef, TerraCycle, OzHarvest and Containers for Change.
57 Hotel
57 Hotel on Foveaux Street is a seven-minute walk from Crown Street and was inspired by New York nightclub 54 — and the 1970s in general. Room types include Twin Shoebox, Mini Disco Double and, the most spacious among them, Dancing Queen Twin, which accommodates four travellers plus luggage.
