It’s, understandably, a bit difficult at the moment to imagine standing in a crowded arena with thousands of other people enjoying a concert.
However, Snoop Dogg is here to help you focus on the future with the announcement that he will be heading to Australia for a huge national tour in 2022.
Snoop, who hasn’t performed in Australia since 2014 when he headlined the last ever Big Day Out, will return to our shores in October 2022 for his ‘I WANNA THANK ME’ tour, which will see the West Coast rap legend celebrate the release of his 17th album ‘I Wanna Thank Me’, and documentary of the same name, released in 2019.
The tour will kick off at Perth’s RAC Arena in Perth on 26 October 2022, before heading to Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena on 28 October 2022 and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on 29 October before wrapping up at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on 1 November 2022.
The hip-hop icon has been labelled ‘America’s Most Lovable Pimp’ by Rolling Stone magazine, with the publication praising him for being “a hip-hop star that has survived gangsta rap, charmed Hollywood and won over soccer moms – a hip-hop family man who’s evolved from consummate thug to ultimate mack.”
Snoop — whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr — first came to prominence in 1992 when he featured on Dr Dre’s debut solo single, ‘Deep Cover’ and then later on Dre’s debut solo album, The Chronic.
Snoop’s own debut album, Doggystyle, was produced by Dre and released in November 1993. The album debuted at number one on the popular albums chart, the Billboard 200, and on Billboard‘s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and sold 800,000 copies in its first week.
The rapper has gone to release 17 studio albums, earned 17 Grammy nominations and racked up tens of millions of record sales and appeared in numerous films and television shows, including his own series with domestic goddess Martha Stewart.
Along the way he has collaborated with a list of celebrities that includes (but isn’t limited to) 2Pac, Pharrell Williams, Eminem, Warren G, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and many more and, of course, has served as the face for Aussie food delivery service Menulog.
He’ll next be seen as Pastor Swift in Stan’s BMF — a series produced by 50 Cent and inspired by the true story of two brothers who rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s and gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in the United States.
Pre-sale tickets for Snoop’s 2022 tour will be available via Telstra Plus™ from Friday 10 September, 12noon AEST. General Public tickets go on sale from Monday 13 September, 4pm AEST at Ticketek.
