We layer lotions and potions on our faces, legs, backs and arms so why not our bottoms? Booty beauty is the latest movement in the world of skincare and given the treatment your behind usually gets (what with sitting down on it for most of the day), it makes sense to show it some attention.
Enter: The Booty Co. This Australian brand caters to your bum with five products including a booty scrub, mask and lotion. After three years in development with cosmetic scientists, founder Kirsty Bronner recently launched the brand which allows you to address any booty-related concerns you may have including breakouts, scarring or stretch marks.
According to The Booty Co, the brand “is all about removing taboo from female bodies in society. We believe in body positivity, and being proud of what we’ve got. We also want to empower women to feel good about their intimate areas, where that’s in the form of cleansing, masking, scrubbing, moisturising and lightening – or all of the above!”
Bronner, who has worked as a beauty therapist, fake tanning technician and most recently, in a Sydney cosmetic clinic that was famous for Brazilian butt lifts, knows a thing or two about behinds thanks to her career experience.
Through her work, Bronner met many women who expressed concerns over their bums but they weren’t able to find products that superficially addressed these. And so, The Booty Co was born.
When developing the range, Bronner wanted all of the products to be extremely gentle and safe to use, given the intimate application area. As such, all of the products have been formulated without PEGs, formaldehyde, mineral oil and sulfates. On the flip side, the range has been filled with nourishing and soothing ingredients like aloe, jojoba, pink clay, shea butter and salicylic acid.
While the whole range is a winner, there are three standout products — The Booty Cleanser, The Booty Scrub and The Booty Lotion. For those times when you’re experiencing breakouts on the behind (it happens to the best of us), The Booty Cleanser is the way to do. Formulated to gently exfoliate the skin, this cleanser helps to clear clogged pores with the addition of salicylic and lactic acid.
When you want to slough away dead skin cells and prep your booty for fake tan, The Booty Scrub is the one to reach for. Filled with pink Himalayan salt and guarana seed extract to polish your skin while the addition of coconut, sweet almond and jojoba oil helps to nourish and soothe the skin.
Last but not least is The Booty Lotion — a lightweight cream that aims to firm and tighten your skin while also providing hydration to the area. The formula is non-greasy and won’t clog pores on your behind.
While skincare products will never be able to fully get rid of things like stretch marks (should that be something you want to do), you can help reduce the appearance of these with products like those offered by The Booty Co.
