If you’ve been living in NSW and are well-versed on NSW Police’s excellent use of social media, you won’t be surprised to hear that it has released a brand-new podcast.
If there’s one thing that the police force know, it’s that Australia has an obsession with true crime. In honour of this, State Crime Command — Investigations takes you into the minds of the investigators as they work to close active cases and bring justice for victims.
The podcast is two-fold. Firstly, true crime buffs can hear stories of cold-cases local to the NSW community and secondly, they are “reaching out to the public seeking information”.
Cold cases range from missing person investigations to homicides, domestic violence and sexual crimes.
Within the police force, the State Crime Command works to keep our community safe by delivering professional policing services to the community of NSW through disrupting, preventing and responding to serious and organised crime.
It is made up of various squads including the Drug and Firearms Squad, Criminal Groups Squad, Organised Crime Squad, Cybercrime Squad, Homicide Squad, Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad, Financial Crimes Squad and the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad.
In the first episode, we hear the story of Passy Reyes, who was last seen at Mona Vale in Sydney’s Northern Beaches on July 18, 2001.
Reyes had been living and attending school in the district and is believed to have left her home at approximately 4.50 am in the morning and has not been seen since.
