It’s day four in self-isolation for me, and with the option stripped for me to go outside, take a walk, or even visit the local coffee shop, I’m finding myself finally getting around to cleaning my home in a way my time has never allowed for before.
So far, the bookshelves have been sorted by author, and then again by genre, the bathroom tap handles tightened, and every hard surface wiped to within an inch of its life.
Is cleaning the new hanging with friends? Maybe for me. And quite frankly I find getting around to household tasks just as enjoyable… okay, that’s a huge exaggeration. I haven’t been out in a while.
But I do enjoy cleaning, and vacuuming in particular. The fresh smell that follows a midday vacuum, the dust-free rugs that beg to be laid upon post-clean, and the comfort in knowing I can make a crumby mess in the kitchen and clear it up in a matter of seconds. It’s divine.
So you can imagine my joy in discovering Dyson had released a new vacuum, and one with an improved battery life and extra big bin for debris.
Released on Wednesday, March 19, the new Dyson V11 Outsize offers the most powerful suction of any cordless vacuum on the market and is optimised for the deepest clean yet.
It’s designed for homes on the larger side (or perfect for people like me who forget to charge her up and empty the bin after every use) with its extra-big bin capacity 150% larger than previous models, extended run time, and a 25% wider cleaner head.
“Since inventing this cord-free format ten years ago, we’ve seen home cleaning become quicker and easier for millions of owners. But our engineers are never satisfied,” says John Churchill, VP of floorcare at Dyson.
“Following extensive global research in the Australian market, we found that people with larger homes needed a machine that could offer deep cleaning capability, covering larger surface areas, complete with increased runtime and larger bins.
“In the Dyson V11 Outsize, we’ve combined our proprietary vacuum technology including a Dyson Hyperdymium motor, patented cyclones and full-machine filtration, with a re-engineered cleaner head, hygienic bin and swappable battery system, giving us a bigger and more powerful machine – engineered precisely for larger home owners,” he adds.
Alone, the vacuum’s run time stands at a generous 60 minutes, but the new model allows for the user to click in a second battery pack should they wish to purchase one, which ultimately extends the run time to up to 120 minutes for bigger homes or multiple cleaning zones like the home and car.
Just like its predecessor, the new Dyson vacuum has an on-board LCD screen that shows current performance, including selected power mode and remaining runtime. It will let you know the mode the vacuum is on according to the floor type – be this carpet or hard floors – and will adjust automatically as it travels between them.
What’s more, the fully-sealed filtration system means the vacuum cleans the air in your own as you use it to trap 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns that include pollen, dust and bacteria.
The Dyson V11 Outsize is available in Australia from now on the Dyson site and regular Dyson stockists that include Bing Lee, Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi for $1,299. A swish gold model will also be available exclusively from the Dyson online store for $1,349.
This week, Dyson also revealed another model, the smaller Dyson V11 Absolute Extra cord-free vacuum. This will also be available in blue for $1,199 and a special edition copper available exclusively through the Dyson online store for $1,249.
