Blake Lively is best known for her role as Serena van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl (and probably for the funny trolling of her husband Ryan Reynolds on Instagram).
Now, the 32-year-old actor is attached to star and produce in a brand-new Netflix thriller, Dark Days at the Magna Carta.
The post-apocalyptic thriller has been written by Michael Paisley (The Witcher) and will be executive produced by Stranger Things EP Shawn Levy while Lively will produce under her B for Effort Label.
According to Deadline, the film will be a character-driven narrative centring on a woman who must take extreme measures during a catastrophic event going in order to save her family.
While there’s only news of one film so far, the outlet is reporting that it could be developed as a trilogy.
This project must be an exciting offering for the star, who told E! News in February, that she’d only consider a role if it was really “worth it”.
“I guess I really have to really, really, really, really love it, because I’m just obsessed with my kids,” she told the outlet. “So, yeah, I think it’s gotta really be worth it to take me away.”
Most recently, Lively starred in The Rhythm Section, replacing her signature blonde hair with a brunette wig as Stephanie Patrick, a woman who veers down a path of self-destruction after a tragic plane crash kills her family. When Stephanie discovers it wasn’t an accident, she turns to a former CIA operative who can help her find the culprits.
She has also starred in A Simple Favour with Anna Kendrick and Henry Golding, All I See is You, The Shallows, Café Society and The Age of Adaline. And we can’t forget the role that brought her to our attention, in 2005’s The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
