Who Is MasterChef Australia’s Alex?
Alex, a first-generation Aussie hailing from Fremantle, was raised in a household filled with diverse culinary influences. Her mother, Britta, is from Denmark, while her father, Gary, is South African. This blend of cultures ignited Alex’s passion for food, as her dinner table was always filled to the brim with unique flavours.
At the age of nine, Alex’s passion for food blossomed into a love of cooking. For her ninth birthday, she wanted a Jamie Oliver cookbook. She has always seen cooking as a chance to honour her grandparents, particularly her Momor (Danish grandmother) and Yoyo (South African grandmother).
Alex works as a fine food salesperson, specialising in selling gourmet cheeses, smallgoods, and other delicacies. Her time in the food industry has intensified her culinary passion, affirming that cooking isn’t just a hobby and is instead her ultimate life’s calling.
If Alex wins the 2024 season of MasterChef Australia, she’ll use the prize money to open a late-night café. She wants this place to feel perfectly imperfect, a place where guests can feel totally at ease.
