Usually, when you think of darts, you think of sticky carpets and the smell of stale beer. Well, it looks like even our darts venues are getting a tech upgrade with Sydney’s first-ever augmented reality darts opening in Kings Cross.
Courtesy of Funlab, the brains behind well-loved entertainment brands, Holey Moley, Strike Bowling and Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq, this hot new venue was carefully selected to be housed right next door to Darlinghurst’s buzzing Holey Moley location.
The darts venue, dubbed L Di Darts is pub darts, reimagines. There is even a touch of Kings Cross’ signature glamour.
Inside, visitors will find a well-stocked bar, lots of neon lights, and bright red booths. If you’re wondering how augmented reality darts work, here is a run down.
Augmented darts use a specially designed dart board and a projected image across a larger playing area to create an interactive game. There’s one dart board at the end of each oche (rhymes with ‘hockey) which is the name given to the throwline in darts. There are four games to choose from during the session and each oche can have up to six people.
During a dart game, you can order food and drinks. There are signature cocktails such as The Bullseye, which is a fruity concoction served in a bright, peacock glass. As for the food, they’re all alcohol-friendly, with comfort foods such as a pizza, cheeseburger, wings, fries and hotdogs. There’s even a selection of sandwiches such as the cubano or smoked beetroot reuben.
